I for one enjoyed the run to 2 NBA finals and all the "seasons of Kidd"...except for last year. And showed my appreciation both financially (buying lots of tickets and souvenirs) and emotionally (staunchly supported the team). He helped make the Nets relevant again in the NBA.

I always had small critiques of him...mostly stuff you could overlook in an 82 game season (except that he was a terrible finisher in those last few years).

But last year cooked it for me. The migraine...the contract extension demand...creating dissension around the team...the misbehaving around town...all conduct not befitting the team's leader and a future hall of famer.

So fill out the poll and post your comments. Even if you're not going to be at the game, I'm curious how you will/would react at the game when he is announced.

He's one of my favorite all-time. I will be there when they retire his jersey and I will cheer him on at that point. Right now, because of last season, I plan on booing the hell out of him on the 19th. A "De-vin Har-ris" must be started.

I have no problem with Kidd. He did a whole lot for this franchise. Prior to kidd this franchise was considered the clippers of the east. Nobody wanted to play for the nets! A 30 win season was the norm for us to see. We got no respect from the papers usually a 2 inch article in the papers. The nixs fans and press were so arrogant regarding the nets.

After Kidd that all changed, experienced vets like Rodney Rodgers were taking less money just to be able to play with Kidd and co. He brought respectability to the franchise and the fans who follow this lowly franchise.

When he left he did it in his Kidd style which many here would consider classless, but he gave the nets one last assist by bring extreme value for him declaring the big 3 experiment failed. The nets received Deven Harris and Ager, and two first round draft picks which so far have given us Ryan Anderson. His departure also gave the nets a higher draft pick which allowed the nets to acquire Brook Lopez. His trade exemption allowed us to sign Dooling.

So, no i have no hatred for Jason Kidd, and when not following the nets i do check in on how he's doing. I was also impressed on how he handled the Olympics and brought the USA the gold. I won't be at the game, but if i were i'd be one of the fans cheering him loudly. He is a future Hall of Famer, and i hope the nets do retire his number...

I was one of the idiots lol.

It was the only thing close to what I plan on doing. He is nowhere as evil as Zo, though.

    I'm the second "idiot".

While I agree that what we recouped in the trade was great, I had an incredibly hard time watching a team play with so little passion, or even passing interest. Or should I say, complete self interest. I felt cheated in a big way. And I felt it was incredibly selfish of a guy who was earning 20MM a year...which I was helping to pay for (yes, I'm one of the idiots whose been paying for season tickets, even this year).

I'm not going to do the Vince Carter/Toronto thing...but I will let him know how I feel -- once-- when he's announced.

And I am VERY happy to watch a team this year that competes and plays hard...and plays as a team.

He gave up on my favorite sports team but I can't boo the guy, I just can't. I'll cheer for him loudly and will be wearing my Jason Kidd jersey.

Jason Kidd made the franchise, period. I cannot emphasize enough how utterly dead-in-the-water this franchise was - huge contracts (Jayson Williams, Van Horn, Marbury), no young prospects, revolving door coaches, etc. This team would've been swiped up by an OKC/New Orleans/Memphis buyer if it hadn't been for Kidd. I'm conservatively guessing that half the posters on this board don't recall more than one season before Kidd arrived. This isn't the same as "Superstar X demands trade", this guy MADE the Nets. Because of Kidd, the team overachieved every year (except last year) - I mean, we won, what, 49 games with Cliff Robinson as our sixth man one season? Plus, we got a really good deal, so why hold a grudge?

I'm going to the game and will give him a standing ovation (although, once the game starts, I only root for current Nets)

Can't really disagree...but it was not the utter disaster you paint. Remember, we had Rod Thorn as GM...Byron Scott as the coach (he's done a pretty good job building up another perennial loser in just a few years down in NOLA). Marbury was destined to go (he was not a Byron guy)...Van Horn/Martin/Kittles were the starters and we had just gotten Jefferson and Collins. So the nucleus of that team was in place. Lucious Harris and Aaron Williams were coming off the bench. It needed someone to make it go and Kidd did do that. No debate. Would we have made it to the finals 2 years in a row without Kidd? No way. Were the Nets on their way back to respectability? I think it is fair to say "yes".

The year prior Meburry who didn't run Byron Scotts offense of the motion offense and was benched in most 4th qtrs only won 27 games. Kittles was coming back from knee surgery ( micro fracture on both knees). Kenyon Martin broke his leg a month into the season. And, Jason Williams retired because of injuries, and murder came later. The nets were going nowhere as long as Meburry was in charge of the ball. NOwhere!!!

Kidd came in and said we're good enough to go to the playoffs, and he willed the team there. To the finals with ZERO playoff experience. Kidd did a lot....

Without Kidd that team would have been a young team filled with a lot of players with potential and nothing more. Kidd starting running and made each player much better, and helped the young core of nets experience winning...

enough said. nets were going nowhere with out kidd.

He's been good to the Nets but the way he left leaves me with NO respect at all.

The only reason i see for cheering for him would be to thank him for the one and only Devin Harris.

Kidd has done greatness to the NETs we all know that...

Instead being repititive and state the obvious on what he did for the franchise i will just say that i voted to cheer for him(not like i'm going to the game or anything) and i will cheer for him when they announce his name but after that, if it wasn't for the way he handled things last season i wish him nothing but failure in Dallas....oh and a thanks for Devin and 2 1st round picks

No one cheering harder than me to see those Mavs lose games from here on, call it what you want but thats what they get for giving a baby its bottle...
