OK, I know Oden is still recuperating, and still learning the ropes, but for God's sake, when is he going to come alive and show us something???? Most games I don't care if he's camping out on the bench, but he was totally invisible tonight, and it's happening too much lately. Just a decent, mediocre game from Oden probably would have made a difference in this game, and his slow development is really starting to irritate me. Where is the Oden we were promised, that's what I want to know . . .
Honestly, I wish Nate would just leave him in. Foul out if he must. I really don't care. If he fouls out, we have Joel. He needs to play and he needs to learn from his mistakes. I remember seeing this same shit with Jermaine O'Neal. Just let him play.
Nate's getting too caught up with winning this year. He needs to think about 2 years down the road when the Blazers will REALLY be competing for championships. Right now he needs this team to gell, and one of those tasks is getting Greg Oden on the floor for 35 minutes a game, or until he fouls out, with the main players that will be part of that nucleus. The kid's just 20 years old. The NBA is obviously a harder transition for him than we expected, especially after sitting out an entire year with a major league injury.
I read a post at Oregon Live a minute ago and it's true. He doesn't run the court, he really does run the floor like how Sabonis ran it during his Blazer days. It's not pretty. He's out of sync in a big way. That's what a year off from basketball will do to a ball player. But right now he's not "worth the wait."
He's a rookie. These things take time. Even if he is a bust, you should still consider yourself lucky for having Roy, Aldridge, Rudy, and Batum pan out better than you expected.
If it's any consolation I'm sure he's harder on himself than anyone on this Forum, except maybe Mixum
When is the last time that there was a player with as much talent as Oden that played with so much indifference?
Darius Miles didn't play with indifference when he looked like he might be talented. He used to dunk it and then like do that crazy thing where he flapped his arms against his head.
HEY, I always wanted to kow why Darius did that crazy thing with his hands to his head ? Was it "Hey I'm a Devil ? " Can someone help ? Thanks
why do most of the posters on here sound like they know nothing about basketball? WHERE IS THE ODEN I WAS PROMISED. seriously, give the guy some time. not only did he spend a year out of the game but he's recovering from microfracture surgery. listen to amare or zach, they all say it took two years before they felt comfortable in their game. not to mention he's a rookie big man, and many of those don't come into the nba and light it on fire in their first season. lay off the guy and let him develop.
It's apparently because there's no middle ground around here and very few people like to keep an even keel. Lose a game - whether by 1 point or 20 - and it's the end of the world. Fire the coach. Trade 2/3rd of the team. Get a new arena because this one is cursed by the Ghost of Petrovich. Win a game and we're booked for the finals and winning the first of our next dozen titles beginning this year. Rinse . . . lather . . . and repeat for the next game.
I'm as patient with Greg as anyone, but I will say that it's disappointing to see almost no fire in the guy. "Just wanting to fit in with the rest of the fellas" wasn't what I was hoping for when we drafted him. He needs to want to dominate. If he doesn't, he will probably settle into being a 14/10 player. Not bad by any means, but not exactly superstar material.
This is so sickening...after every loss, someone makes a fucking thread crying and complaining about the most stupid shit...it never fails. Yet everyone continues to feed the trolls. Why acknowledge it?
