Refs suck. Our coach sucks. Players that commit turnovers suck. Players that shoot less than 100% from the field suck. Players who miss FT's suck. LMA's slow reaction time sucks. Travis Outlaw sucks. -------- There, I've just summarized pretty much all of the threads posted on this forum since about 10pm tonight. Edit: I forgot this one - Brandon Roy sucks because he shoots too much at the end of games.
Well, when I was watching the game I thought that the shot shouldn't have counted, and I agree that it appeared that LMA didn't get it off before it showed 0 on the shot clock. But I think we're dealing with tenths of a second. Does anyone know if the shot clot expires when the number turns to zero, or does it turn to zero and then have a bit of time left. In any case, I'm just saying what they showed on SportsCenter. Sucks.
Nah.. the shot didn't count. But he was fouled by Dwight on the play big time for basically stripping his jersey off.
I thought a TV replay clearly showed the shot clock at 0 with the ball in LaMarcus' hand, even MB acknowledged it was the right call and if he thinks it is, then you know it probably is.. But in that case, it still should've been reviewed since there was also a timeout called after that. NBA instant replay rules 2006-2007: Section II-Reviewable Matters a. If an instant replay review is triggered as described in Section I-a (1) and (2) above, the officials would review the tape to determine only the following issues: (1) Whether time on the game clock expired before the ball left the shooter's hand. (2) If the shot was timely, whether the successful field goal was scored correctly as a two-point or three-point field goal. (3) If the shot was timely, whether the shooter committed a boundary line violation. For purposes of this review, the official would look only at the position of the shooter's feet at the moment they last touched the floor immediately prior to (or, if applicable, during) the release of the shot. (4) Whether the 24-second clock expired before the ball left the shooter's hand. (5) Whether an 8-second backcourt violation occurred before the ball left the shooter's hand. http://www.nba.com/analysis/rules_history.html
Aldridge was fouled at the very least. Thanks to the asshole time keepers for not starting that clock on that jump ball which lead to Rashard Lewis hitting a lucky 3. I expect to be fleeced away from home but not in Portland. Dwight gets away with the most shit ever, besides Wade.
The shot was not good. He was fouled, but after the shot clock went off. Like other have said, this one is not on the refs.
Don't the refs go by the light and not the actual shot clock? If so the shot should have counted. Espn showed the replay and he clearly left his hand before time expired. Not that it really matters, not going to change anything. Hopefully we learn something from it. Disappointed that Nate doesn't go to Rudy more often in those situations instead of Travis. If Roy is doubled Rudy should be your 2nd option.
Backboard lights don't go off on a shot clock violation, only at the end of the quarter. And the ball was still in his hands for about a half second when the clock hit 0.
I didn't see if he got the shot off in time, but there's absolutely no question that he was fouled before the shot under the basket. The refs did a very poor job from the start of the game.
The refs rightly swallowed their whistles in the last seconds of a game, if it was a foul it wasn't a blatant foul, and I would hate to see the game decided on foul shots against us in that situation, so I have no complaints with the call. It was an airball, the shot clock hit zero, we lost, move on.
Howard just about had Aldridge's jersey ripped off while Aldridge was driving under the basket. That's about as blatant as you can get. If you don't think he was fouled you likely just didn't see the play very well.
I certainly didn't key on the foul, maybe I missed it. But that still doesn't change the fact that counting on the refs to bail you out of a busted play in the final minute of a game is foolishness at best. The team had an execution problem in the last two minutes, not a referee problem.
