Mavericks vs. Washington Wizards preview8 p.m. today, American Airlines Center, FSNSW/ESPN; ESPN-FM (103.3), KFLC-AM (1270, Spanish)08:25 PM CST on Tuesday, February 14, 2006By EDDIE SEFKO / The Dallas Morning News Season series: First meeting this season; Wizards lead 26-22 all-time. KEY MATCHUP GILBERT ARENAS VS. JASON TERRY Arenas has been sizzling all season (28 ppg), but he's been on fire in the last five games, averaging 32 per game. Last season, he popped the Mavericks for 63 points in two meetings. He won't be stopped, but making sure he doesn't get rolling from the 3-point line is critical. Expect Devin Harris and Marquis Daniels to help out. Inside the Wizards Road woes: While they have won seven of their last nine games, it should be noted they haven't won on the road since Jan. 25 at Boston. They are 2-5 vs. Western Confer- ence teams on the road. Briefly: They are without Jarvis Hayes, who had knee surgery Tuesday and likely is lost for the season. ... Former Mavs player Antawn Jamison is fourth in the league with 20 games of at least 20 points and 10 rebounds (Shawn Marion, Elton Brand, Kevin Garnett). ... Forward Jarvis Hayes had surgery on his fractured right kneecap Tuesday and could miss the rest of the season. Inside the Mavericks Bench brigade: They have had three reserves come off the bench to score in double figures three times in the last 12 games. It didn't happen at all in the first 39 games. During their 14-1 run, the bench is outscoring opponents, 41.7 to 23.4 per game. Briefly: Erick Dampier has grabbed 10 or more rebounds in four of the last five games (10.4 in that span). ... They have outscored their opponent in the first quarter in 15 consecutive home games. ... They have won 10 consecutive home games, tied for fourth-longest streak in club history. Terry will have a tough time defending Arenas, he can get hot with his mid range

I think Dallas will put Griffin or Howard on Arenas. I think their size could bother Arenas though Terry or Harris are quicker so it will be interesting what Avery does tonight.

Not scared, if our starters start off strong, the bench should put theirs away easily come 2nd quarter.

Well Arenas got stopped. 4-22. lol. The rest of the wizards were on fire including Jamison and Butler. The mavs though were clutch at the end of the game. Josh Howard was awesome again. Mavs win 103-97.
