Re: Sabathia chooses Yankees ($140 million 6 yr deal) Edit: SI and ESPN are saying it's $160 mil for 7 years
Re: Sabathia chooses Yankees ($140 million 6 yr deal) You beat me to it. It may be overpaying, but it's a good signing for them. With Muss out and Pettitte potentially out, they needed an ace, and he's that.
Re: Sabathia chooses Yankees ($140 million 6 yr deal) Well, you need a guy who can get it done in the regular season too. I realize he hasn't been that great in the postseason, but we have to get there first to see how he's going to perform on that stage, and he's at least going to help that cause.
Re: Sabathia chooses Yankees ($140 million 6 yr deal) 6 years is very scary with how many innings he's pitched and how Mil abused him. He could turn out to be a bigger mistake than Zito.
Re: Sabathia chooses Yankees ($140 million 6 yr deal) His arm would have to literally fall off for that to happen. -Petey
Re: Sabathia chooses Yankees ($140 million 6 yr deal) Yeah, they're giving him way too much money. And in other news the Yanks are interested in Manny. lol
Re: Sabathia chooses Yankees ($140 million 6 yr deal) Which is what we need right now to get back into the playoffs...It been awhile since the Yankees had a true ace now we need to go out and fill the other holes and NOT SIGN MANNY...Sign Oliver Perez and Derek Lowe then maybe take a look at Manny but i really dont think we should go after him
Overpayed, but I'm happy! CC/Wang/Sheets/Pettitte/Joba(only last so he can have an inning cap) Two of the top inning eaters in the league at the top of the rotation. ^_^
Re: Sabathia chooses Yankees ($140 million 6 yr deal) ... they need more than an regular season ace, lets not forget we are losing Mussina's 20 wins last year. Think CC will win many more than that? That still doesn't put the Yankees in the playoffs. -Petey
Re: Sabathia chooses Yankees ($140 million 6 yr deal) We're losing his 20 wins but we're also getting back Wang, which helps our cause a lot.
What about Manny? Personally I think he'll help the team, but then again it could turn out ugly, especially being in New York, etc. lol
I think Manny could certainly help, but do we want to pay $20some million for a DH? If we do get him though, he'll be great protection for ARod in the middle of that order.
Haha, that is overboard. I remember once Damon fielded a ball, was throwing it in, when Ramirez cut it off 20 feet later while diving, to throw it in himself. -Petey
Haha, I remember that. They showed on Baseball Tonight on a few occasions throughout the Manny trade talks during the season and it still makes me crack up.
It's really not. Manny's arm is a bit better, and usually gets a better jump. Too bad he's a dumbass.
And the fact that he's a dumbass is what causes him to be a bad fielder. He takes stupid routes to balls sometimes and does a lot of stupid stuff as well. Take note of the high fiving of a fan last year. Sure, he got the runner, but that was an absolutely mentally retarded play. Manny is an idiot, and I'd rather have Abreu playing defense than Manny, and that's saying something.
