Doesn't really deserve its own thread, but Mark Loretta and the Dodgers have agreed on a deal. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3756550
how long has the offer been out there? Not to say it won't happen, but if it was such a sure thing, I think he'd have signed already.
Can the Dodgers really afford to offer something close to what they Yankees offered? And they still want to sign Manny... CC may be trying to raise his value to milk more money from NY.
What's the Yankees' real offer? $140 million is already a staggering amount of money. And now you're telling me, at least from the tone of your post, that they're prepared to offer millions and millions more? Hey, if they're that dumb, take him. Watch him implode next season, pitching in New York in a brand new stadium trying to live up to a record contract. Its painfully clear that Sabathia wants to pitch on the West Coast, with the Giants, Dodgers, or Angels. When one of those teams makes an offer that can be compared to the Yankees current offer, he'll take it. I repeat, if he was interested in being a Yankee, this would be over and done with already.
Not necessarily. He could be biding his time and seeing if they'll up their offer, or maybe he's waiting to see what other offers he gets. I'm sure he realizes no one else is going to offer that kind of money, but he might get an offer from what he deems a more desirable location.
... Cashman = idiot. No other club puts a legit offer and he adds more money, another year to CC. -Petey
Told you they were that dumb. There was never any chance he was going anywhere else. They would have paid him $200M if that's what it took.
CC did a great job milking the Yankees for all they are worth. I bet some of the stuff on his wife/kids was bullshit. Still happy, though.
