I just saw it on THE SCORE, apperently BC is trying to trade jose and kapono for nash and raja or hill. The will either include kapono or graham and moon!!
Before the season nash stated he wants to play for raptors, and his numbers are decline especially with porter as a coach.
    Best things about the trade:
raps get a solid PG, get a true defender in raja, and nash and O'neal come off the book in 2010.
    Bad things about the trade:
Nash's age, over the salary cap

If this happens not only will raps become a better team they can then call them selves a contender!!!

Nash and Bell for Jose and Moon. Jose has a BYC, and can't be traded until the 15th, so trade machine hates me on espn. But Do It BC!

this won't really help. we'll lose the very little depth we have now in the form graham or kapono or moon. also we would really have no room to make any other moves before 2010 as most of our money will be tied up with nash and o'neal. Also we would be losing most of the players who would thrive in fast paced offence and would be left o'neal who can't really run and bosh who can't do what amare did

this wont help? lol the basic problem with raps is they dont have Raja bell who can defend the best player on the opposing team! and the trade mechine will say no cuz raps will b over the tax but who cares if you can get a big 3, remember Boston last yr didnt have much depth they just knew how to click so we'll c what happens

If you're going to go over the cap, why settle for an aging and declining Nash when you can go for someone like Gerald Wallace who fills most all of the Raptor's needs?

1 - Wallace doesn't want to come here
2 - Nash comes off the Books in 2010
3 - Bell can help defensively

If this is true, it seems like Colangelo's really going all in for the next two years.

Despite what you think of him kallday, giving up Jose would be tough. He's still yet to hit the prime of his career and we might be overreacting on him not being fully healthy to start the season. I think you're forgetting how badly we struggled to find a legit PG before the TJ/Jose era. Having Nash for 2 years (who knows how much longer than that?) would be nice, but is it worth sacrificing 5+ years of a PG of Jose's calibre? It's a heckuva judgment call.

The plus would be that we'd finally have some legitimate perimeter defense to plug in at the 3-spot, moving Bargnani back to his proper position. Additionally, Nash is much more of an offensive threat than Jose is.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. It'd be a pretty radical change. But given how mediocre the team has been for the past year or so, I appreciate Colangelo not considering anyone untouchable.

Probably confidence in Ukic for the future would be the factor for this.

    1. Wallace doesn't have a choice. If Bobcats say yes to a deal with Toronto, he's coming whether he likes it or not
    2. As does O'Neal. That covers resigning Bosh, unless you're planning to sign Bosh for the max and then use Nash's portion to sign another big name.
    3. Wallace also plays defense, though not as well (and yes, I realize getting blocks and steals don't mean he's a good defender, but Wallace is still an above average defender nonetheless). But he also brings consistent slashing which the Raptors desperately need and a consistent second/third option on offense. I'd take the consistent slashing/scoring threat over the difference between his and Bell's level of defense at this point.

I'd really question Colangelo if he was making a move based on the development of Roko Ukic. He's an intriguing prospect with a nice skillset, but his development is still up in the air. People see a similarity between him and a rookie Jose and assume that he can progress at a similar rate. But in reality, Calderon was much more of a finished product that Roko is and his rapid improvement really was remarkable and rare.

We should get Dave Hopla to work on Ukic's J.

agreed. But if we get Nash, we need to rely on a backup PG to take over in 2010
