I've got to question the UFC's wisdom in putting Razak Al-Hussan on this card, of all cards.

Yeah, CP says he's from Des Moines and he's a part-time fighter. Seems like he's been picked for the show purely on his name.

You really think he'll get booed? it would make the all the troops seem really ignorant. You would think these would be the guys that would know that not all middle eastern people are extremists.

I don't know a lot of soldiers but the ones I know are all boneheads. Add alcohol to the mix and you don't get golf claps.

    Here is the man:

This just really sucks, this time last year I was stationed at Ft. Bragg, then this May I got stationed to Texas. They sent this stuff to Fayetteville a few months late, leaves me sad it still does.

And Speeds, i'm not a bonehead, and i'm a soldier.

So did Razak Al-Hussan get booed? I missed the early portion of this event.

Ben Saunders. He can no longer toil on the undercards. He should keep watching Anderson Silva.

After saying his name they immediately cut to a close up of some soldiers holding a sign and yelling into the camera so it wasn't clear what the reaction was.

Poor Jon Goulet. The guy has skills but he has arguably the worst glass chin on MMA. I think Ken Shamrock might be the only other one who gets routinely knocked out by jabs and short punches. Terry Martin and Kimo as well, maybe.

Josh Koscheck's KO was exactly what he needed. Now he can negotiate with some power. Two of his last four fights have ended with him getting vicious KO's. He can walk to Strikeforce or Affliction and have credibility, so we'll see if the UFC gets a little softer with him and AKA over the licensing fiasco.

Also, Ben Saunders looked MASSIVE for the weight class and did a wonderful job. Hard to tell if the nutshot hurt his opponent enough to throw him off his game but those (fifty?) knees were amazing.

Also, seeing Al-Hassan get his arm broken was morbidly entertaining. I haven't seen one get bent all the way over like that too many times in MMA. Sometimes tapping is FUCKING NECESSARY YOU DUMBASS! Now he'll be out for six to eight months. Oh well.

it was NOT a good night for Corey Hill, especially since it sounds like he was winning his fight until...

courtesy of mmaweekly and photo courtesy of FIGHT! magazine.

man I realy like Hill too, here's hoping he's able to recover and the UFC doesn't cut him.

Thoughts on the fights we did see.

Jim Miller is a tough SOB as is Wiman. I want to see Miller on the main event again with a full training camp to see how good he can be. Really needs to work the stand up though in order to take a step up in competition, because most of the top 155er's have sick wrestling or BJJ.

Tim Credeur may have won, but I wasn't that impressed. His striking is sloppy and he appears to be going the route of Jorge Gurgel and try and prove he's an exciting stand up fighter rather than a black belt BJJ fighter.. and his stand up sucks.

Razak al-Hassan, we hardly knew ya, but your stubbourness will be in highlight reels for years to come. Cantwell is only 22 and if he improves his ground game may become a top LHW in a few years. I like the guy.

Mike 'Quick' Swick is back.. all he needed was to fight someone who pissed him off. Good to see, I hope Swick is back to his explosive self finally at 170. I'm also hoping Brandon Vera finds his groove too at 205 like Swick has. Goulet, well you lost when it was time to step up yet again and TKO is out of business... what next?

I've been a big fan of Ben Saunders since TUF and wow, did he look really good. Was Brandon Wolff way in over his head? Or has Saunders improved that much? Did the significant size advantage throw Wolff off? Or has he never trained Muay-Thai before? regradless this was fun fight to watch.

Well Kos didn't play it safe and he decimated Yoshida.. looks like there's a significant difference between being a top 5 170 pounders and a top 15.
    What a KO!

aaaaaaaand I can see why Bruno vs Rees was on the undercard. It was a decent fight, but nothing to remember either.

All in all 4 of the 5 main event fights were good or had great finishes, with only the Credeur fight looking like a stand up paint by the numbers match for the most part, and the Ben Saunders fight was entertaining too.. A very solid free event IMO.

    Fight Bonuses.

Matt Wiman and Jim Miller got $30K each for Fight of the Night
Kos got $30K for KO of the night (ya think!)
Steve Cantwell got $30K as well for Sub of the Night and nearly tearing Razak al-hassan's arm off.

I only really got to watch replays of the fights, but wow it was a great night.

Some great submissions and knockouts and just overall fights. The arm thing made me want to puke... the Corey Hill leg thing did make me puke.

Ben Saunders was a beast. That didn't even look fair. I remember when I ehard he was fighting on the card I was going to (87) I was so pumped to see him. He won that fight, but last night he was jsut violent. I know people get annoyed wiht Goldy but he nailed it on the head when he said this was like watching a Anderson Silva fight.

And I have to admit, I don't like the guy and never will, but I'm slowly respected Kos more and more. That was an awesome knockout last night.

Kos looked vastly different than he did in his fight with Alves, is Alves that damn good or did Kos take the fight on too short of notice?
