Of all the franchises in all the sports i must admit I hate the nixs so.... Could it be the arrogance of the fans, the media? Could it be just the way nets fans were belittled all thru the 80's and 90's. Now some will say well its not all the media's fault, the infamous Secausus Seven had alot to do with it. But i was wondering today on the day of the first meeting between the great New Jersey Nets and the lowly nix why, why do hate them so, and if so ........why???
Re: Why do you hate the nixs so???? I always found them to be boring (on the court) and arrogant. And I have no idea why people refer to them or their arena as the mecca of basketball. They won two titles back in the 70s. Big deal. 76ers have won 3 titles. THe Knicks and their fans carry themselves like they've won as much as the Celtics and Lakers.

The Owners are idiots and now they have a coach who doesn't believe in any form of defense? In fact the nixs were so stupid that they traded for Meburry even though he almost destroyed the nets and the suns, both teams btw got so much better once Meburry left. They hired Isaha Thomas as a GM even though he single handedly destroyed the old CBA. The he went on to almost destroy the nixs... Stupid team, stupid fans, and a very ugly uniform as well..
Re: Why do you hate the nixs so???? Being a life time New Yorker I never liked the Knicks because their players were all pretty boring as was their style of play with Ewing. I started following the NBA when Marbury first got to the nets and that was also the height of the Pat Riley footasketball days and I still shudder at having to watch those ugly games. Turns out that being a nets fan for so long might turn out into the nets coming to brooklyn (where I grew up). I always felt that NYC needed two bball teams because in my opinion most people that grow up in NY play bball, it is easily the most popular sport in most schools. Besides the Knicks and their boring players and inept management for the past two decades aren't good enough for the garden or their loyal fans (nets fans and NJ as a whole could learn something). Also the garden is called the mecca of bball because of all the great college tournaments that are played there as well as the dominance of Saint John's there so long ago.

NJ has a lot of fairweather fans who don't show up to games when they're losing. I mean VC and nets are a top draw in other cities but they can't fill up their own arena. I'll also never understand why imo most of Jersey either roots for the Knicks or Sixers when there is a team that has New Jersey on the front its uniform.

Re: Why do you hate the nixs so???? I don't hate the Knicks. They are my third favorite eastern conference team. Behind the Nets and Cavs. I don't like their jerseys, not a big fan of anyone on the team, but I always grew up a Nets/Knicks fan. Nets always on top though.

I started really hating the Knicks when Marbury was attempting to build himself up as if he were better than Jason Kidd. After the playoff series of the Knicks vs. Nets, it went downhill for the Knicks and I lost all respect for their players and their management, especially Dolan. While the Knicks sucked you could not get tickets to their games because they were outrageously expensive. In my eyes the Knicks were filled with a bunch of dumb overpaid bums. I used to be a New Yorker until about 6 months ago. There was a point where I was as much a fan of the Knicks as I was the Nets. But after that playoff series, Knicks just made me mad and I have stuck faithfully with the Nets up to this day. I have to admit, the new changes with the Knicks' personnel and staff is making my hate for the Knicks thaw, however they still have some rotten remnants that hopefully will be gone next year. However, while they still have these remnants, I will continue to hate the Knicks and be depressed when the Nets lose to them.
A lot of haters here... wow. Anyway, the Knicks were one of the NBA's first franchises and along with the Celtics, are the only team still in their original location. Knicks have only two championships, yes. But that's still two more than the Nets have. We've meant a lot to the NBA history nonetheless. The first NBA game featured the New York Knicks. We have several Hall of Famers, records, and are the most valuable franchise. The OKC Thunder are more valuable than the Nets! Furthermore, most Nets fans are only loyal when the team is winning. I don't remember too many before Jason Kidd. Knick fans are arguably the most loyal fans in the game. MSG is not only the mecca because of the Knicks. There's a reason why so many events such as concerts, boxing, NCAA, the freaking NBA Draft, etc. is held there. I'm sure even your 2% owner Jigga will even tell you the significance of the Garden. With that said, the Nets are trying to move to the Knicks' city of over 60 years.
I forgot to mention the major reason i hate hate hate the knicks!! We had the best pg in the east named kenny anderson and he was killing the knicks. This *** named john starks flagrant fouled him and shattered his wrist and my team was never the same. After that drazen died and dc turned into a fat alchoholic! F the knicks! F 'em!
I hate the knicks because the fans at shit heads I swear some of the fans, might the loyal to the knicks, but that doesn't mean they are better at least right now Nets have a winning record
The Nets and Knicks are only two games apart. Let's also factor in the Knicks just traded their two leading scorers and best rebounder for Tim Thomas (Mobley just retired), and Al Harrington. The Nets aren't that much better than the Knicks and if losing to them is any indication, they might not be as good.
