Well obviously some changes are needed...

Lamar has a 12 million expiring contract, he has been playing pretty much like shit all season. Josh Powell, from what I've seen, looks like he can play in this league.

Two Western Conference playoff teams made improvements today off of trades. Trades which came out of nowhere, just like the Gasol deal last year.

So what do you guys think? What can Lamar's expiring net us in the open market? A point guard who can play defense, like... a Kirk Hinrich?

    Just wondering :drumroll:

I'd like to trade any of the following three: Lamar, Luke, and Vlad. I'd prefer to keep Vlad over the other two, honestly.

I'd keep Vlad as well. He's the best shooter of that bunch, and shooters are what you need around Kobe, Pau, and Andrew.

I'd trade any of those three though, if it brought in a great defender.

Would do you guys think if we traded people away to get Gerald Wallace? Just curious.

Re: Will the Lakers Made a Deal Before the Deadline?

Luke isnt going anywhere. He has too long of a contract left at 5 mil a year.
Fisher isnt going anywhere due to his daughter
Do we really want to send off our only young PG in Farmar?
Vlad is borderline tradeable right now but I dont think the Lakers would get anything that could help them right now for him

I would like Gerald Wallace for LO but Wallaces contract is pretty long at about 10mil a year. IMO Mitch and Buss will decide they have too much money tied up in other players to go after him unless they do the one thing I really starting to consider...

Dont resign Kobe....Lakers need a SG that is above average but doesnt try to take stupid shots because hes Kobe Bryant and he can do what he wants.

Take that money to sign up Pau for longer, get a upper level PG and a quality SG...something LIKE a Micheal Redd.

The team would flow so much more smoothly on offense

I like the idea of trading Lamar for Hinrich...the only snag there is that you can't trade injured players, and there isn't exactly a time table on Hinrich's return.

Can we trade Odom for Bell & Diaw now?

I think the Lakers have to make a move at some point to add a defensive stopper. We still don't have anyone who can bother Paul Pierce and if the Cavs make it to the Finals, we have no one to check LeBron James.

Raja Bell is pretty much unmovable now.

Larry Brown loves players like Bell, but his defense has really declined in recent years. But still, he'd definitely be a welcome addition to this squad. Larry loves Lamar from his Olympic days as well, so who knows? Maybe they'd trade us Wallace for Lamar...

At this point, I'd be willing to roll the dice on a Lamar for Wallace trade, and just hope that Wallace can stay healthy. He'd be a huge upgrade defensively for us and would really solidify that starting SF role.

I'm pretty sure either Vlad or Luke will be gone before the deadline.

My guess is Vlad since Luke is practically untradable. Vlad has value in this league. He is a big man who can shoot, and he's almost shooting 50% from beyond the arc this season. I'm pretty sure we'll find a taker if we look hard enough, he's playing some of the best basketball of his career

As for Luke, I'm hoping him starting is just an audition for the rest of the league. I don't know what they'll like from him, but maybe someone will be stupid enough to trade for his high basketball IQ.

What happened to the Lamar for Marion rumors? If Miami is doing poorly I think it is feasible.

Marion wants an extension for big money and i dont think were willing to give him that. If hed be willing to resign for cheap id take Marion. Im all for trading Lamar for Wallace as well. The damage we can do on the perimeter defensively with Wallace, Ariza and Kobe would be nasty.
