For Palin it was never about the milkman. It was the plumber all the way baby.
And what they had most in common was that neither one of them really gave a tinkers damn about what the other one really thought about anything, or whether the other one was even at all capable of original thought. They just liked the way each other looked. And they came together on that one brief and shinning moment on the trail. It was fresh. It was new. It was exciting. And they just couldn't stop talking about it. In fact it became all they could talk about. And then one day it was over. It was over all too suddenly. And now there are only memories. Some happy, some sad. They had a glorius time together. But its over. And things will never ever ever be the same again. So sad Sarah. So sad Joe.

Palin's a fucking joke, 3/4th the reason why they lost.....

She reminds me of the soccer mom driving the ford aero-star mini-van down the street going to pick up her little brats from the school yard, talking on her cell phone driving 25 in a 40MPH. All the while not paying a lick of attention to anything and rolling through stops, not giving a fuck about anyone but herself and her own self centered, self serving morals and ideals.

Ok, okay, just my perception...I know... carry on. :dunno:

Sarah Palin is the pinata that the Republican party will throw at Obama in 2012.

I'm not sure why they would go with her over Huckabee. Huckabee is just as homespun and down to earth, but doesn't have the whole "grossly stupid and incompetent" issue, and unlike her he has Reagan's knack for saying disagreeable socially conservative things without being disagreeable. I'm as liberal as anyone, and I just can't bring myself to dislike Huckabee no matter how homophobic he gets.

A lot of economic conservatives will squawk that Huckabee isn't their breed, but let's face it: fiscal conservatism just isn't going to sell well for a while. It took 5 election cycles before you could run on big government after Reagan. It'll probably be at least 2 more election cycles before you can win running on a fiscal conservative agenda. If you accept that, Huckabee makes sense.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Palin's attacking style was a big part of why she was so popular among the very hardcore base, made up of neo-cons and religious fundamentalists. They're a minority of the party, but the most active, passionate part. If that wing of the party continues to dominate (and that's the wing McCain sought to appease by selecting Palin over Lieberman), Palin is definitely their face and star.

Why are people still talking about this guy. No one cares about him, or Palin.

I thought Romney seemed very bright and would have been a good choice for the Republicans this year (either as VP or as Pres) given his economic policy background. I guess people don't like that he is Mormon, but if the economy is still in the tank in 4 years -- I think Romney might be a very good pick.
