Wow, I have never thought about putting someone on ignore, beacuse it would just make reading posts weird, but this thread is seriously making me think about it. I might be over reacting but calling for the extermination of a entire population of people deserves a ban in my opinion.

you can believe whatever you want, but if you're talking about christianity it does take a double standard. in the same way science proves evolution it also for practical purposes proves everything in the bible relevant to the validity of christianity is mythology.

that said, evolution-believing christians are certainly a step in the right direction, generally less likely to advocate causes that undermine science, and deserve much more intellectual respect than dogmatic fundamentalists. they certainly don't deserve to die : )

i though george bush sr. was christian. he certainly advocated christian causes such as prayer in school.

either way he lost mainly because he lied when he said "read my lips.."

I am considering alerting the authorities to the original post. The poster is given a chance to retract, and instead he expounds on his original call to violence. Perhaps the poster should be on some law enforcement watch list so there can be a lead if he decided to start acting on his calls for extermination.

I realize the OP is probably just another product of our desensitized society, but one can never be too sure, can they?

I'm no biblical scholar, but I believe that you are taking the Old Testament writings and apply them to everybody who believes in Jesus Christ. Plus, there is the whole "evolution doesn't explain the origin of life" problem that nobody can answer in any controlled setting.

well yeah, that's exactly what i'm doing. it requires an obvious intrinsic double standard to disbelieve genesis/exodus etc based on empirical evidence and also believe metaphysical claims in the NT are fact.

you mean nobody has answered, not nobody can. there's no reason to think science won't eventually find a purely physical explanation for abiogenesis. there are already a few theories out there that could potentially work in principal.

anyway arguments for design are irrelevant to the historicity of the bible, since the designer could be any god.

Maybe you should go back to BBF, you'd be happier, they'll ban anybody for any reason.

George H.W. Bush was a Christian, but he felt becoming born again would be fake. George W. Bush, after losing in his congressional race, supposedly didnt' want to get "Out-Texaned", and becoming a born again Christian in a state where part of the evangelical bible belt is in, was part of that, and obviously Bush and Rove used that to get Bush elected for president...and of course governor before that.

What I enjoy is that DaRizzle's icon is the album cover of an album with a song on it about how terrible Las Angeles is and that California needs to sink into the ocean.

    Faith > Religion, IMO

I don't have a problem with people's personal beliefs as long as they don't shove it down my throat or use it as a reason to justify heinous acts towards others. Unfortunately, religion has been the cause of far too many conflicts, whether it's a war that kills tens of thousands of people or a single hate crime against one person.

Just believe what you want to believe, and keep it to yourself. Spirituality should be a personal thing, and religion makes it ... not.

Too many people who follow a particular religion demonstrably look down on folks who believe something different.

I would have to agree its both. My girlfriend is of Jewish decent (brown hair/brown eyes, fathers parents practicing Jews, has a 13 letter last name) but she has never attended temple or been to any type of church. But I would say she is Jewish (by decent) but if asked what religion she belonged too she would say agnostic.

My grandpa was Jewish. I just say I'm Israeli, because I don't practice the religion at all, and my grandpa is a converted Christian anyhow...and we actually have ancestors in Israel, and family that still lives there as well.

no it's correct. the same scientific standards used to prove
that there's an extremely high probability evolution occured
can be used to show there's an extremely high probabililty
that ancient metaphysical claims are mythology.

I don't believe, but what people told me when I was a child was that nothing is impossible for God. He could make anything true or false on a whim. I can't think of anything that would make people who believe in God change their views. Science won't. Aliens from another planet might make some reconsider:dunno:

You are truly ignorant, my friend. There are probably 20 times as many people in that "cult" as there are Jews in the world. Besides, what makes you think people in "cults" deserve to be exterminated?
