Why would Orlando do this? You have to think of trades from both team's view points. People arent just going to take your scraps and give you a star caliber player in return..
I wouldn't want to aquire Steve Francis. He's just a cancer to his team, and would take away from the likes of Paul Pierce, and Wally Szczerbiak. Steve is uncoachable, and doesn't care for playing as a team. He just wants to go out, and score as much as he possibly can, each and every night. I think that the players we are giving up, are much more valuable to us then Steve Francis would be.
Orlando can get a better deal for Francis, and they dont need Raef/Scal (or their contracts, especially Raef's), especially because they just got Darko from the Celtics point of view, i don't want Stevie. he is a very talented player and is extremely athletic, but i don't want that negative energy around here. i mean he seems like a funny guy from interviews and stuff, but he has had problems in both Houston and Orlando, and cried his way out of Vancouver when he was drafted (although i would give him a chance, because u never know, Ricky matured A LOT). i dont want a player like that on this team. he would demand the ball too much and make too many boneheaded plays that would eventually get Paul ticked off, as well as Doc, and do we REALLY need any more turnovers or iso plays? i don't think so. if we wanted that iso 1-on-1 player, we would have never traded Ricky
Pierce, Wally and Franchise. Thats a mess waiting to happen. All three need the ball, and Gerald Green needs to develop. Franchise on Pierces team would only be good in the Allstar Game.
Yeah, I don't see Orlando benefiting one bit in this one. They absorb horrible contracts, receive scrubs, and no draft picks. What's the upside? For Boston, Francis is a very good player, but like I've said before, this isn't good for Boston long term. Granted, it'd be a fantastic trade by Ainge to trade bums (although, I still like Allen a bit) and no draft picks for a franchise player but we can't have three players all wanting shots at once. Francis is a punk too, he always quits on his team.
I'm shaking my head to think that you would even come up with a trade like this that Orlando would never do, well maybe the Raptors :yahoo: but now Orlando.
