Here are some plays I have picked up by watching the Cavaliers play, I am posting these just because. Maybe you can pick up on the plays while watching the Cavs games. Here is the main key I will use for the plays.[IMG]First PlayThis play was run 5 times in the 3rd quarter of the Nuggets game on the 18th of Jan.Here is an addition to the main key that I will only use to help show this play.[IMG]Eric Snow is on the left side of the court with the ball. Z is in front of LeBron (note: this isn't all ways James, but 75% of the time it was). There is a foward close to the weakside elbow and there is a shooter behind the weakside three point line.[IMG]LeBron runs right behind the three point line, lined up with the ball side elbow. Z moves down a bit and posts up. Eric Snow throws him the ball.[IMG]Now Z has the ball. It is some what of an isolation play. Z can make a move to the basket, being 7'3 and a good inside shooter, this is a play that teams are scared of. This play works well with a smaller defender guarding Z. Let's put a defense in so you can see how this play works.[IMG]The guy guarding Z is most likely in a bit of trouble, there aren't to many guys in the NBA that can guard Z alone in this position on a regular basis. So the defensive guy highlighted with the circle, has to drop down into a help defensive help position. Because the guy guarding Z will most likely need help, he is more focused on Z than his own man, therefore losing his defensive triangle (him losing sight of his man doesn't all ways happen, but the play works best when it does). Either way, the guy guarding the cavalier at the weakside three point line, has to come over near the key to be in a help defensive position, in case the foward at the weakside elbow slips past the (circled) defender to the hoop, he is there to guard him, also he can help guard Z.[IMG]Basicly the defensive man on the weakside block has to guard two people (the foward and the guy at the three point line). Z trys to make a move to the hoop, if he gets to the hoop and scores, great, if not, while he is making the move, the foward up at the weakside elbow comes down and sets a pick on the defender on the weakside block. This leaves the shooter at the three open for a good look at the hoop. Z passes him the ball.[IMG]The shooter gets the ball from Z and is ready to make a play, the play is designed for him to shoot the ball, but he can create other plays out of this one.Unless you guys want me to stop, I will post more plays later.

Thanks. Yea I used paint, it is all I have any ways (even to make sigs). Here is another one run during the same game. I have a bunch of these plays (I do them as a hobby).Well here is another one. This is one of the plays that James uses to get to the hoop. I like this one.Cavs play 2Ran against the Nuggets on the 18th of Jan.[IMG]The point guard has the ball at the right side of the court. There is a shooter baseline on the weakside. LeBron is on the opposite side of the guy with the ball. The two big guys are around the top of the key.[IMG]The two big guys come up and set a double pick on James, James curls off them to the hoop looking for the ball, if he doesn't get it he stops at the ballside block.[IMG]The two big guys come down and set another double pick, but this time for the shooter, the shooter runs up to the three point line looking for the ball and a shot. If he doesn't get the pass, James has popped out from the block and past the ballside three point line. The point guard passes him the ball.[IMG]Z comes over to LeBron and gives him a pick, LeBron can drive to the hoop, pass Z the ball on the pick and roll, or play a little two man offense with himself and Z (Z posts up and LeBron has the ball. Every one else clears out a bit and its basicly Z and LeBron vs. their men and maybe some help side defense).

Cavs inbounds play 1(Saw this play during the Nuggets game on the 18th of Jan.)[IMG]A cavalier gets ready to pass the ball inbounds (usually Eric Snow in this play). LeBron James is past the three point line, lined up with the ballside elbow. The remaining Cavaliers are in a tripple stack set. The shooter is on top of the stack (farthest from the ball).[IMG]Z and the other big man sets a double pick for the shooter, who comes off the picks and trys to get open for a pass and a nice easy layup.[IMG]If the ball isn't passed to the shooter, the play continues. Z and the other big man then set a pick for LeBron. LeBron comes off the picks and trys to get an open three, or atleast the ball.[IMG]After the big man and Z set the picks, the big man cuts to the basket hoping for a pass and layup. Z steps past the three point line as a saftey pass, he drops back far enough that they can inbound it to him easily. Z is the last look to get the ball inbounds.

Well I have to tape the games and then go through them and check stuff out. It is a hobby I do in my free time. Here is a play I saw during the first Pacers game against the Cavs. The Cavs ran this play 4 times in the first quarter.Cavs Play 3[IMG]LeBron is right under Z. The point guard (usually Eric Snow) is at the right side of the court. The other two Cavs are lined up behind the baseline three.[IMG]Z sets a pick for LeBron. LeBron comes off the pick looking to curl around Z and get the pass for a lay up, if he doesn't get the lay up, LeBron comes up to the weakside elbow and the Point Guard passes him the ball.[IMG]The Point Guard comes down and sets a pick for Z, right after he throws LeBron the ball.[IMG]Z Curls off the pick right to the hoop, LeBron trys to pass him the ball. If Z doesn't get it, he comes up and sets a Pick for LeBron (on LeBron's right side). LeBron trys to get to the hoop, if LeBron can't get to the hoop, he goes to the right elbow.[IMG]After Z sets the pick for LeBron, he rolls to the hoop. LeBron trys to get him the ball (this is part of the play is a great pick and roll, because LeBron and Z are both huge threats this close to the basket, so when Z sets the pick, he may be able to roll to the basket and be open, because the other team is more worried about LeBron curling to the basket off the pick, so they double team James, leaving Z open. This can happen the other way too, When Z sets the pick for LeBron, the other team could be worried about Z, leaving James an easy scoring opportunity). If Z isn't open for the shot, LeBron passes to the ballside baseline guy, who looks to shoot the ball. If no shots come out of this play, the cavs bring the ball out top and run a different play or this one over again. The Cavs seem to like this play a lot. Look out for this play while watching the Cavs games. Well I like this play, I haven't seen it lately since that Pacers game.

Thanks. Here is the last of my older plays that I have already drawn up. I am going to have to get some new stuff tonight from the Magic game and draw up some plays that I have in my notebook. Here's another Cavs play, used against the Pacers on 1/24/06.Cavs Play 4[IMG]The PG has the ball at the right side of the court. A power foward is on the ballside elbow. LeBron is on the weakside block. Z is on the weakside elbow.[IMG]The PG has the ball at the right side of the court. He throws it to the Power Foward on the ballside elbow. Then the PF passes the ball to Z on the weakside elbow. LeBron starts to move under the basket.[IMG]The Power Foward (after he passes Z the ball), he goes down and sets a pick for LeBron. [IMG]LeBron cuts up to the weakside elbow and looks for a quick pass to cut to the hoop and score. If LeBron doesn't cut to the hoop, he stops at the weakside elbow.[IMG]Z looks to pass the ball to the Power Foward (who after setting the pick on LeBron, slipped to the hoop). If Z can't get him the ball, he passes to LeBron, who looks to pass to the slipping Foward. If LeBron can't get to the hoop or pass the ball to the slipping foward, the Cavs makes something happen (like Z setting a ballside pick for LeBron, flares, setting up a new play, or whatever). When they ran this play, Marshall was the powerfoward, he slipped to the hoop, Z threw LeBron the ball and LeBron with out even looking passed it to Marshall for an easy layup.

Yea, I just haven't drawn them up on paint yet. But I guess I will tonight. :)EDIT: Alright here is the last old play I do (then I will get some stuff from the newer games). This play was also run against the Pacers on 1/24/06. Cavalier' play 5This play is mostly run on the right side of the court. It looks to get LeBron a possible shot or drive while involving the big men in slips.[IMG]The Cavalier guard has the ball a little bit to the right of the elbow at the three point line. The two big guys are on the blocks, the big guy that the play is being runned for (usually Z) is on the weakside elbow. LeBron is on the ballside, baseline three. The other Cavalier is on the weakside, baseline three.[IMG]The ballside block big man comes up and sets a pick for the guard with the ball (on the guard's left, away from LeBron). While the big man was coming up to set the pick, Z comes over to the three point line above the 45. The guard goes to his left using the pick, if the man that sets the pick can, he slips to the hoop looking for the pass, if the defense doesn't give an opportunity to slip, he just stands there for a bit. The guard passes the ball to Z at the 45.[IMG]The big man that had set the pick for the guard looks to cut to the hoop and get a pass from Z, if there is no place for him to make a cut he doesn't, he just moves out of the way. Z passes the ball to LeBron who is near the ballside baseline. LeBron trys to make a move to the hoop if he can, but he doesn't force anything.[IMG]Z comes down and sets a pick for LeBron. LeBron looks to create a play by either driving to the hoop, looking for a shot, or looking for an open teammate. If the big man that looked to cut just a couple of seconds ago didn't cut and is still standing there, he looks to cut again to get an easy layup, but if the defensive doesn't give him any room to cut, again he doesn't cut, he just gets out of the way.[IMG]After Z sets the pick, he looks to slip to the hoop and get a pass from James. What the Cavs are hoping for is to play a two man game with James and Z. This is what the Cavs need to do more of, Z has a good inside game and James has been able create a shot from scratch, so they make the perfect two man game situation. The Cavs are hoping that teams might be scared of LeBron and focus a little too much on him, which would give Z just enough time to slip to the hoop, LeBron can then give him an easy dish and they get a layup. If the defender guards the pick and roll well and stays with Z, Z posts up and LeBron and Z begin the two on two. LeBron looks to create a shot or give Z the ball and cut to the hoop, there are many options off the two man game. If nothing works, the ball is taken back up top to run another play (or a shot is jacked up).I will be looking at newer games to get some more recent and up to date plays. Some of these palys may not be used anymore, so I will be looking out for some plays that the Cavs run this week.
