Coach Phalic Jackson said that to reach 40 wins before 20 losses means "you kind of control your destiny." Or in other words "you're a good team." Which will happen first this season?
As of 12/13/08 we're 15-10, at .667 and on pace for 54 wins (stats stollen from nikolokolus on another thread)
I think that some time a home should help Portland pat their standings....this team needs some rest and some home cooking.
I think it will be close but I think we will be a few wins short of 40 when we loose game 20. I say 37-20
I think the key is January. We face a lot of sub par teams that month and it will be a good chance to build some momentum.
we'd have to go 25-9 to be 40 and 19, I just don't see it happening with the way our bench has been playing, too sporadic.
No way the Blazers reach 40 wins before 20 losses. That would mean going on a 25-10 tear for the next couple months. Just not going to happen, short of a sudden hot streak, like last season. If last night's loss to the Clippers convinced me of anything, it's that this team is still psychologically fragile, except for Brandon Roy - and that guy needs help!
That's not how you calculate a winning percentage. Winning percentage is what percent of games played have resulted in wins. You divide wins (15) by games played (25), which is .600.
We're on pace for 49 wins right now. We were of course on pace to win more (54.6 ~55) 3 games ago, when we were 15-7. Even small streaks have a big effect on projections this early in the season. Here's the breakdown of our win percentage based on a hypothetical win streak that may or may not occur: 1 - 50 (50.4) 2 - 52 (51.6) 3 - 53 (52.7) 4 - 54 (54.7) 5 - 55 (54.6) 6 - 55 (55.5) 7 - 56 (56.4) So, you can see the effect a short streak has on our "projected wins" this early in the season.
Agreed.. 25-9 from now on is just way too tough especially with the emotional hit we've taken this past week. But I'd hope to see at least with 30-35 wins when we reach the 20-loss mark. We have to be at least 10 games over .500 to have a chance to be in the playoffs.
I am an ass. we are at 60% Kids, let that be a lesson to you. Never do math while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
