Dynamo, with Boki Nachbar and Jannero Pargo, beat Triumph, with Nenad Krstic and Alan Anderson, 93-79 today in Moscow. Boki, who is playing the best of any NBA imports from this summer, had 27 while Krstic, who has been inconsistent, had 18 to lead their teams. Boki is averaging about 16 ppg while Krstic is averaging about 12 ppg. They played in front of 2,000 people. No further word on Russian teams' financial woes, but both of these guys have outs after this season, and again the Nets continue to retain Krstic's rights...meaning they have the right of first refusal and an standing offer of $2.7 million for one year. http://www.basket.ru/index.php?dn=game&id=60045&ml=1
What would you do with Nenad? Resign him, and trade Boone, Sean, or Anderson? Trade his rights? Let him continue to develop?
Picking up Nenad sounds pretty good right now. I wouldn't mind trading away Sean or Boone. I doubt that the Nets will pick up Nenad anytime soon though.
I cant imagine the Nets signing him for much more than the $2.7 million QO. They dont want to jeopardize the 2010 situation...and I see no indication he is as good as he was in 2006 when he went down. Another team might go for more, but the Nets can match. I doubt many teams would go much higher than the Nets QO unless he looks really good. He has a history of injuries to his feet, his hand, his wrist, his thumb, his knee going back to when he was drafted. Still, those who think Lopez is better now than Krstic was when he was healthy are just dead wrong. Krstic had a much more developed post game. Lopez MAY be a better rebounder, but Krstic was averaging 17 and 7 when last healthy and had two 25+ point games the week before he was hurt. There's no way for me to know how healthy his knee is now, but considering that he isn't dominating the Russian league (like Boki is), I have to assume the rehab continues.
Lionel Chalmers is averaging 21.3 ppg in the Russian League. IMO it's a weaker league at the guard spot and strong inside. I would want to watch both Krstic and Nachbar play before the Nets even consider any one of them.
That's just plain silly. Both proved themselves as NBA players over a five year span. Unless Krstic's knee is still screwed up, there's nothing to prevent him from returning to the NBA other than money. They both played well for the Nets. Boki would still be a Net if he relented on a third year. And considering that all the Russian oligarchs are tightening their belts and the Russian economy is in free fall, I think a lot of these guys will be headed back to the NBA. I doubt last summer's trend continues through next summer. Sports teams are playthings for the oligarchs and they wont be able to afford them. The whole Kobe-to-Europe thing was written up by sports writers with the economic sense of a Bulgarian shoemaker.
You misunderstood what I was saying. You said Krstic isn't playing well and Nachbar is, so I said that the league is easier for Nachbar and Chalmers to play in than for Krstic. So I said that you shouldn't look to much into the stats without watching them play as well.
