Im gonna have to go Thorn here, dont forget, hes the man who drafted MJ..I think the RJ trade was great, robbed VC from Toronto and swapped Marbury for Kidd..He also elected not to resign Kenyon to that massive contract and instead got draft picks in return and the ability to resign RJ and acquire Vince. He drafted Krstic who has turned out to be an excellent young player (he was projected to go top 5 the following year had he not come out when he did), and he got what many people around the league thought was one of the steals of the draft in Antoine Wright who recently has shown some potential in the time he has earnedMarbury < KiddGriffin < RJ, Collins (Brandon Armstrong was also included)K-Mart < Vince, ability to resign RJZo, Eric Williams, Aaron Williams < Vince Carter

Bryan Colangelo. He's the reason we have been good the last two years. He brought in Nash and brought some great players to put around him(and ones that could excel in D'Antoni's system, yes system) and made awesome trades. He wasn't good at the start but he was young. He has really turned into a great GM.Too bad our new loser UgAy alum GM, Sarver, doesen't like him and is allowing the Raptors to have talks with him about their open GM spot. Sarver wants the other stupid UA alum, Steve Kerr to take over the job. I really hope it doesen't happen. Colangelo's always have to have a place in Arizona sports.

Colangelo has been pretty unrecognized by the media. They dont recognize the savvy moves he's done with aqquiring Boris Diaw, James Jones, and Eddie House because he knew they would be come solid role players with Nash on this team. He knows how this team functions and he knows which kinds of pieces to get.

I'm not sure which is the best, but I sure do know who is the worst. Either Mitch Kupchak (Los Angeles Lakers) or Rob Babcock (Toronto Raptors).

They've got the worst record in the league and they're in the depths of salary cap hell. I mean, this guy gave Jerome freakin James a big contract when he already had a soft, poor rebounding center in Curry. The Knicks have the highest payroll in the NBA and if I remember correctly, they traded away all their first round picks over the next two years. They are royally screwed for at least three years. And now I hear the Knicks are interested in Darius Miles... Sure, that's what they need, another small forward... Yet, they're still going for Francis. Kupchack and Babcock are terrible GM's, as is Kevin McHale, but it just never ends with Isiah. He was a terrible coach and he's an even worse GM.Best GM? IMO, it's a toss up between guys like Geoff Petrie, Donnie Nelson, Larry Bird, Joe Dumars, and RC Buford. Jerry West was a truly great GM once upon a time, but I think he's lost his touch. And of course, Petrie totally screwed the pooch this season, but I'm hesitant to say it's his fault Sacramento has done so poorly, because I think he was under tremendous pressure from the Maloofs to make a move just for the sake of making one. But hell, I guess everyone has a miss, and I think he's redeemed himself a bit since bringing in Artest.

The Spurs GM probably, the Spurs spotted the international trend early and it payed off for them, they have a great scouting dpeartment and they make solid picks and FA decisions.

Yeah all Kupchak did was get rid of Shaq and bring in Brian Grant who is gone, Caron Butler who is gone as well and Lamar Odom who is a decent shooter/good ballhandler/good rebounder but he is not offective in the Lakers offense. I think the Lakers have to do something to get more scoring options but Kupchak han't done anything at all so until he gains some balls and helps the lakers out then I wouldn't count him as a good GM. he turned a championship team into a barely playoff team which is definately not good.

I like Suns GM (Colangelo?) has done to their franchise. They dealt JJ for future Hawk picks (which means lottery, although not sure if they are protected or not), and Boris Diaw who's averaging insane all around numbers: 12.1 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 5.8 apg. Then he also got House, Bell who have become very good three point shooters in the system, perfectly complementing the Steve Nash-led offense. Don't forget Kurt Thomas and they're atop of their division, pretty amazing feat, I'd say. [IMG]
