6 coaches thus far have been given the axe early in the season. two of them being sure surprises in Jordan and Cheeks(did not see that one coming) and an arguable one in Mitchell.... Frank has dropped 3 loses to the Knicks, Raptors and Bulls. All were quite winnable(minus TOR) and we had extensive leads in two of them only to lose in double digits. it's the coaches responsibility to get these guys to play hard and remain energetic in the start of the 3rd. I can only speak for myself but i'm getting real tired of hearing that stupid question, "Why is it that the 3rd Q you guys come out flat to..." over and over and over... well we're still hearing the same answers, "we gotta work on this, do that etc..." so far its all talk and no actual improvement at all... our D continues to struggle, despite the coaching staff always preaching about "we need to work on this, that etc..." and again no actual changes have been made on the D side...... Guess what i'm asking is, how long of a leash does Frank have? and what point does his job status become uncertain?? Eddie Jordan was axe when all-star PG is out for nearly the whole season, Cheeks was booted unfairly IMO when he was given an All star in Brand... hell Mitchell was canned for trying to work in JO after his Front Office made that trade....(been better of with Hibbert IMO) What is Frank's excuse? what is holdng Kiki and Thorn from wacking Frank?
A week ago Frank was being named a frontrunner for coach of the year...three losses in a row hurts that status but doesnt exactly put him in line to lose his job.
Hey, remember when we beat Phoenix and Utah on the road? Can't really blame Frank for Yi playing like a terracotta soldier.
The nets have over achieved this season so far and with a 3 game slide now the Frank haters are start to come out of the woodwork. Sizing on the moment like vultures circling its latest prey of road kill lying on the side of the road. What is your real problem with Frank? You act surprised that the wizards canned Jordan after a 1-14 start? Or a hated coach like Mitchell, or Cheeks who is getting nothing out of a team that made the playoffs the year prior and added an allstar in Brand over the summer. The sixers were beat by the nets who played a poorly filled with turnovers, and poor shooting and are currently in last place of the Atlantic division. Frank came into the season running a ball club that is clearly rebuilding. He has the chore to teach and develop very young players. Up until a week ago was considered doing a wonderful job having most of them progressing very well. Then the team went into a funk, or a plateau of the learning curve and you people seem to use this as an opportunity to trash him and chant your familiar chants Fire Frank!, Fire Frank!... Does this phrase empower you? Does it make you feel like your more knowledgeable than most basketball fans? What is your real motive here? Why the need to fire the coach and change the system that worked up until the past 3 games? How will firing the coach and changing the system improve the rookies? I'm really confused here maybe you can enlighten me here.... oh yeah, go nets!!! btw, for the record,,,, I think Frank is doing a wonderful job.
Frank is safe, Thorn doesn't react like the rest of the league, plus coachin wise Frank has done a good job, he was out coached by D'Antoni but his done a solid job so far
If he wasn't fired after last season don't you think his job is pretty safe with this years 11-11 over achieving NETS? I like Frank and I think he is doing a good job with the team. It was just 4 days ago I was reading he was the leading candidate on ESPN.com for Coach of the year.
there is no reason to fire frank. he coaches 100% of the game and he's a decent coach on both ends of the court. The players just need to get their act together and listen to him.
Five coaches have been fired, not six...and anyone who says they predicted the Nets would be 11-11 one quarter of the way through the season is a liar.
I predicted the nets would win 52 games, so i'm not as surprised at their early success. Although with the easy December schedule i was expecting a better record than that. What i am surprised at is the funk that they are going through after such a great western swing. At the same time i shouldn't be so surprised considering how young the team is.
Four players have played in all 22 games: Yi, Simmons, Carter and Lopez. Everyone else has missed games with health issues: Bell's palsy, respiratory flu, hamstring strains, sprained wrist, ankle and back bruises, sprained ankles, hip flexor, knee sprain, etc., etc.
This is true, as so far the Nets season has been an improvement of general expectations. I think people have gotten disillusional with the Nets relative success, and have really taken it and ran with it. Frank has found an offense that gets Brook touches underneath, gets Yi shots on the perimeter (plus gives Simmons a chance), and has kept VC to his standard while making Devin a (probable) all-star. He wasn't the right fit for the team last year, but I have to say I support the job he's done so far.
Frank is decent this season, not great, but decent. Boone, Anderson, and Yi, all of them have to play better. That's why we lost to Bulls last night.
