Roy has demonstrated all the moves in the arsenal. Watching him score 20 becomes unexciting anymore. Best thing is he's playing before the 4th quarter.
Roy is doing too much. Other players aren't stepping up. It's time they stopped watching Brandon and started carrying some of the load themselves.
Maybe Greg? I know they don't want him to be an offensive force, but there's a difference between taking the offensive load and not taking any offensive responsibilities at all.
I really love the way Roy has been looking for his own shot in the last 3 games. He seems to be the only Blazer on the court who knows what to do offensively. Everybody else runs around aimlessly and throws up lousy shots.
Brandon Roy pretty much is our offense at this point (for better or worse); take him out of the mix and this is a sub .300 team. I don't know if anyone else on this roster has it in them (Bayless longterm) but they really could use one more person who can create their own high percentage shot, or is willing to take it inside without dribbling it off of their foot.
I don't even want to think what we'd be like without Brandon. I remember some people were actually believing Brandon would be expendable with Rudy here.. which was asinine. With that said, the other guys need to step their game up.
well aldridge did score, what 25 last night? but we still need others to show up. we missed outlaw last night, well outlaw hasnt been playing well anyway.
Are you kidding me? He attempts to post up EVERY SINGLE possession, which usually results in being double-teamed and passing out for a wide-open shot. I don't know how the fuck you can imply "not taking any offensive load"... HES A FUCKIN ROOKIE
I can't stay away. LMA scored 22 but he shot only 9 of 23. If he gave us anything in the overtimes, we would've won. We missed Outlaw. What's crazy is that we got career highs out of Roy (scoring) and Oden (rebounding) and still lost, dang it! One other though, even though we lost, I loved watching Roy in that first overtime. He played better than I've ever seen him play. Even though we lost, I saw a guy who can deliver the goods in a tough playoff game.
Good post. LaMarcus missed, I believe, 3 of those running hooks across the lane over both overtime periods. None were offensive rebounded. They are not necessarily bad shots either, but he isn't the consistent gamer Roy is. Eventually hopefully. Yeah, I'm reading alot about the absence of another player beside Roy who can create his own shot. And, of course, this was Travis last year. At least in the 4th. He would have been a nice option to have. How to define a Superstar? I guess you're a Superstar when it's not surprising when you hit a shot, any kind of shot. When you expect that player to make the shot, especially if their rhythm isn't too affected. I expected Roy to hit every shot he made in those OT's and was a little surprised when he didnt hit.
LOL! yeah I remember that. It was sooo ridiculous. But thank God that kind of hype for Rudy died down. Roy IS our franchise.
As soon as he betters his % on the 3pt and FT lines, he'll be unstoppable. Byron Scott already said his team treats him like they do Lebron, Kobe, Wade. To be put in the same paragraph with hthose type of players is a high compliment for Brandon.
We lost because Blake missed a handful of free throws in the last minute and for no other reason. The GAME WAS OVER IF HE MADE ONLY ONE MORE!!!!!!!!! Do not hang that on LA or Outlaw not being there. LA has been great and is establishing a low post game to go along with is outside shooting. That loss is on BLAKE!!!
It may be that you're looking at this backwards. Roy has been looking for his own shot in the last 3 games, and the rest of the team has been frozen out of the offense. We threw those games away, by not playing a team game at the end.
If Brandon was turning into a chucker getting his 30+ points shooting 35% from the floor, or getting no assists (Utah being the exception rather than the rule) you'd have a strong case. As it is, he's been one of only two players willing to step up and fill the big gaping hole that our bench created with their sub par shooting and tendency to do nothing but jack up ill advised jump shots. You might have a case that Roy taking over for so much of the game could be having an affect on his teammates rhythm, but I have a strong feeling that without Roy those 3 losses would have been by a combined 60 points. This team just needs to get some rest and get their legs back under them, but maybe more importantly somebody besides Roy (and LaMarcus to a point) needs to step up and be willing to do more than just hang around the perimeter.
Thank you HCP! I'm not concerned about the "losing streak" at all. All 3 of the last losses were played well, they were in it until the end, and they ran out of physical and mental gas. On any other night Steve hits those free throws, that tells me he hit the mental wall from all that traveling and playing so many games in a short time. I saw Rudy running around the court against the Clippers looking like he had noodle arms and legs. I saw Brandon make a quick turn and it look like his upper leg almost gave out from fatigue. They had shots that were accurate but just falling short. That's fatigue people, not a full on team implosion! Now, if they lose tomorrow at home after 3 days off I'll be concerned but right now I think they're just fine and will be back good as new to start another win streak.
