I can't remember where I read it, but we're supposed to be interested in Raymond Felton. I sort of like that idea. He's very fast, and we don't have speed at the PG. Is he a good defender? I think so. Even though he's not an ideal PG he's more of a PG than Bayless, because, you know, he actually played PG in college and most of his time in the pros. Could he be our modern-day Greg Anthony? Off-the bench game-changer?

Here's a trade that works: Bayless and Frye (reuniting with Larry Brown, under whom he flourished as a rookie) for Felton. I'd do it, but I have a feeling that most people like Bayless better. Except probably the people at Charlotte. Although, with Michael Jordan involved, who knows?

Dude, Bayless is a far superior prospect than Felton IMO.

He went to UNC, so he knows how to play defense.

I still think Nate should free Bayless and play the kidd. Roy bitches and moans about not wanting to play with a PG who dominates the ball, and we have one sitting on the end of our bench. He is also a good defender and is ultra quick in getting into the lane. He also seems to know how to draw fouls.

Dude, care to elaborate? And prospect at what? Not PG.

If Felton's not attached to a deal for Gerald Wallace, I don't want him.

Felton's not bad, but he doesn't do anything particularly well. We already have that in Blake, and I'd prefer to have Bayless long-term, because he potentially does do things well (defense, getting to the line).

I assume you mean that we have a PG that doesn't dominate the ball sitting on the bench.

Here's the deal: Bayless has less court vision than Rudy, and Rudy needs the ball less. Bayless is a better penetrator, sure, but that's Roy's job. I don't see why, if we're really going to try to turn Bayless into a PG (and when has that ever worked?) then Paul Allen should buy a D-League team outright (so we don't have to share it with other teams) and install Bayless at the point full time, with a Blazers assistant coach making sure they run Blazers plays and he doesn't just shoot every time down the floor. As it is, every time he DOES get on the court, he's very forgettable (if not for Kevin Garnett).

Felton is A LOT faster than Blake, so he can stay in front of people like Tony Parker and Chris Paul, or at least, come closer than Blake can. He can also penetrate, which Blake cannot do.

And where do we get the idea that Bayless is a good defender? He hassles people, but to no noticeable effect. Does he get steals? Not that I've noticed (and his stumpy arms might be to blame).

If you look at Felton's career, you would see that he's played less and less at the PG position. By default, yea he is due to his size but by all accounts, he is not a true PG. Bayless is bigger, plays better defense, and gets to the line better. I'm pretty sure Felton is a bit more capable at the PG position at this point but what you're getting out of him at that position isn't all that great. I think it's best to stick with Bayless and hope that Nate gets him some PT soon.

Why would you want Raymond Felton? He isn't a good PG, as evidenced by him playing less and less there (he used to start some along Brevin Knight too). He isn't improving...if you look at his numbers his shooting percentages still remain really bad. Why do we want him...as a backup SG? I'd much rather have Bayless than trade him and Frye for Felton. No thanks whatsoever.

We really can't make any claims about Bayless (positive or negative) at this point, he's simply an unknown quantity with respect to how he plays defense and how he plays offense in the NBA.

As for Felton, I've only watched him a few times and I never came away impressed. Looking at his numbers just reinforces my feelings of "meh" (FG: 40% 3PT: 28%, PER: 13.6, A/T ratio:2.4) -- can't shoot from outside, not a great defender (although he's OK at generating steals), and has done nothing while in Charlotte to suggest that he's worth being a primary target.

I watch just about every Bobcats game and I disagree. He's neither particularly quick nor a good penetrator. He gets to the line more often than Blake, but that can be said about just about every guard in the NBA. :)

For some reason you don't like Bayless and it shows every time you post about the PG position for this team. You seem to ignore the fact that he's quick for his size and strong. You also don't seem to take into account that he's still young and that I didn't say he IS a good defender. I said he potentially is, and I base that on his physical tools and youth and reportedly good work ethic.

Felton, on the other hand, is more of a known commodity at age 24. While he has room to improve, he's just not very good and probably never will be. I'd rather go with what we have and roll the dice with Bayless than settle for Felton.

the first counter that springs to mind is Terry Porter

There are tons of combo guards in the league including Brandon and Rudy. Those two are more 2 guard sized while Bayless is a PG sized combo guard. Not only is he an excellent penetrator but dude has a great J spotting up or off the dribble. No one has argued he's got eyes in the back of his head alla Kidd, but playing alongside other duel threats he doesn't have to be.

What will his primary PG responsibilities likely be alongside Roy and/or Rudy? As I see it, he needs to be able to bring the ball up against pressure and do an adequate job guarding the quick PGs of the league when they man up. Everything else PG related is at least a shared responsibility. On offense he needs to blend with the others not lead them. Learning the half court sets will likely take some time, but I don't see how his game doesn't translate well beside Rudy or Roy once he's in the flow of the NBA game.

Charlotte thought so much of Felton as a PG that they went out and drafted a PG in the lottery. As was mentioned above, I would take Felton on, no problem, but only if he comes attached to Gerald Wallace.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
That one year of Bayless not playing point guard, that you seem to feel is the most important development of his career, was due to injury. Prior to him being moved to shooting guard to cover for another Arizona player being hurt, he was expected to be the team's starting point guard, and came to Arizona as a highly-recruited and highly-regarded point guard.

Bayless PLAYED Pg in college, and has done fine in his time in preaseason and the reg. season at the point. I really don't think we need anything more than Bayless (PG D and bring the ball up and be able to play off the ball)

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/P2JhYGsQfDk&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/P2JhYGsQfDk&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Why would you trade Bayless before even giving him a chance? The kid is going to be phenominal, and is a superior prospect than Felton. PG can be learned. He has said that he WANTS to be a PG, and that he wants to make his teammates better. One of his quotes once he got drafted after they were talkin' about playing with an ALLSTAR in Roy he said well next is I want to help make LMA an all star. As long as you have the mind set, you will be fine. Specially with a guy like Bayless who has insane work ethic and extremely high bball IQ.

WTF are you talking about? We NEED more than one person that can attack the rim! Wow..

Can we take the ingredient out that missed 3 out of 4 free throws vs the Clippers? :)

    Ok, I'll bite:

Why in the heck do you watch every Bobcats game?

    You from there?

That makes me wonder; How many people are there that are not from or have never lived in North Carolina, that make it a point to watch the Bobcats this season?

I am going to go out on a limb and speculate it is a small number.
