<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Detroit News - There is a chance that Kelvin Cato might never play for the Pistons. He is 31 and idle because of a broken bone in his right foot. He had shoulder surgery over the summer and has played in only 23 games with the Magic. The Pistons do not intend to waive him, however. They will use him as trade bait to find another point guard.</div>http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/391...d_to_find_a_pg/
Wow Detroit didn't think they could trade Darko for a point guard? Dumars has only compounded his mistake of drafting Darko with now trading Darko for crap and also lose Arrojo in the process.
Some teams need a big guy like this. The Nets are one team that are rumored to be interested. I think we could get someone solid with him, and maybe use that 1st rounder we have.
The reason he did it for Cato is to clear cap but if he can use him to get a good pg then it works out. But if he if stays he will free up cap space to resign Ben and Chauncey.

Here are a couple of snipets from that.(Joe on being disappointed, on a personal level, that things didn't work out with Darko)? Not really, not from a personal level. I think my track record speaks that it?s business. It's nothing personal, it?s business. I' ll support it as long as I think it can work. When I get to the point where I think it?s probably not going to work, I tend to not hold on to it and force it. I don?t mind taking chances and coming up short. That?s the only way you can be great at something, if you?re willing to take risks to get out there and see if it works or not. If it doesn?t, I'll be the first to stand up and raise my hand and say, ?it didn?t work.?"He talked about how the team has received a bunch of calls from agents wanting to see if Detroit's interested in their point guard. Still, Joe D. cautioned that they'll look but they don't necessarily have to add another point guard. A lot of people have asked about, 'what if Chauncey gets hurt?' Well, the bigger concern appears to be Lindsey's health. If he goes down, than rookie Alex Acker is the team's lone point guard off the bench.I have a feeling that the Pistons aren't going to do anything with the point guard situation. And if something does happen to Lindsey, I see them going the 10-day route ... so don't be surprised if you see a guy like Anthony Goldwire getting a call at some point between now and the end of the season. Joe also talked about Kelvin Cato, who will report when the guys get back next week. His foot is still in a boot, but the Pistons aren't sure what they'll do with him. But they do know that they will not waive him.</div> if we sign goldwire again. i will lmao... but if we buy out his contract...i would think about why we even made the trade...i like cato...i think he will help us fight shaq along with Dale Davis in the playoffs and the two remaining games left against them this season...soon to come before thursday (trade deadline)PN13
Cato for McInnis? I dont think that works cap-wise, you might have to take Marc Jackson too, not sure how much I like Cato, the Nets should be able to do better..
well if we were to trade Cato, I think it would be dumb because we need him for the playoffs against Shaq. >Wallace>Davis>Cato---and even McDyess or Sheed will help us get past Shaq and Tayshaun, Rip, Delfino, and Hopefully Evans will help us with Wade.If we trade him for a PG, then we would probably trade for someone like Earl Watson of the Nuggets. He wants out of Denver and we need an O.K. backup PG. He would help us because he's a good shooter and he distributes the ball well...
He reportedly is getting dealt at some point, the Pistons are said to be looking for a backup PG. He is a big body though, and one would think he would help guarding Shaq..
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I agree Dumars should have Drafted Carmelo Anthony</div>Melo wouldn't have fit into the Pistons team ball and defense. Melo is more of a star player, while the whole Pistons team is the star. Also, they have Tayshaun Prince, the better choice would have been Chris Bosh. They hadn't traded for Sheed yet, and Bosh would have fit right in next to Ben.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>well if we were to trade Cato, I think it would be dumb because we need him for the playoffs against Shaq.</div>You have enough in Sheed, Ben, Davis, McDyess. They need a backup pg more, with only Hunter there. With the trade deadline waning though, looks like Dumars feels Ackers is good enough to be in the pg rotation.
You know who we could have drafted? Kirk Hinrich. Or at least traded down. But I'm not dissapointed. The little adjustments count, but look at the Pistons. They are on top of the world. Thats good enough for me.
Josh Howard! As for looking for a PG I hear there interested in Tony Delk.Delk fits in considerably well. He is a nice tough defender with a decent 3 point shot.Hes only 32 not as old as most people think. Mind as well take the chance on him.

But Dallas got a good pick in himand yeah, I heard about getting Delk. The Hawks might buy out his contract as early as this week. Then the Pistons are free to sign.like BH said, he brings defense and a three point shot. sounds like another Lindsey Hunter. who do we give the primary back-up spot to? Hunter is better in my opinion. so Billups/Hunter/Delk for me. but the idea of having him is pretty good.

Well there's a problem there. Delfino has secured the role of the back-up shooting-guard. and he has done well this year. But if needed, Lindsey is a good Backup SG.
The pistons could've gotten Wade, Bosh, Melo, Josh Howard, and etc but they picked Darko. One of the worse picks ever.
that was dumb.Bosh would have been a perfect fit in Detroit. Replace Darko with Bosh and replace Delfino with Josh Howard....
Hindsight is better when you know the outcome. I bet most of you would have took Darko or had Darko top 5 or 10 at least that year. Besides that, Darko has yet to really play. Save this for later.
