Just saw it scroll by on ESPN. This is good news for tomorrows game. The Blazers need a big win to get them back on track.
I don't have stats in front of me, but it seems that teams do well for the first few games under a new coach. I would rather have had Theus fired later in the week--after Portland plays the Kings. Ed O.
Yep I agree, teams at least play harder for the first week or so under a new coach. Just another GM throwing the coach under the bus, for the GM's own mistakes. Nothing to see here.
We played the Raptors soon after they got a new coach, I think their second game? Maybe teams like to fire there coaches before they play us
I think it was pretty clear it was going to happen. I actually thought it was going to happen a couple of weeks ago. Theus deserved better, IMO. Ed O.
Why did Theus deserve better? Dude got a chance to coach in the NBA. Bad situation, I agree, but I think he lost this job a while back when it became clear he wasn't ready for prime time. He was just dead man walking for a while.
The Kings have been in a rebuilding mode for some time. Theus was more successful than the other coaches that had been fired this year, in my opinion. I don't think that a coach that is getting the most out of his players during a rebuilding process deserves to be fired before the season is even halfway through. Ed O.
