You didn't say anything. You made a simplistic and contrary statement and gave no reason. *edited: No personal attacks* Have fun with that.
Out of curiosity, Hank, is it a "Sergio isn't good for us and needs to go", or a "Sergio needs to be free, and go somewhere like GSW or NYK to be loved"?
Lets talk basketball. Sergio - Cant shoot, Defend or finish at the Rim. Has been playing professional basketball for over 5 years. Bayless - Good Defender, Excellent finisher and can shoot. Has been playing professional basketball for 2 months. Which one of us needs to read Basketball for Dummies?
Both. He doesnt fit our system and never will with Nate here. I dont really care where he goes as I am a Blazer fan and not a fan of Sergio or really any individual player.
I wonder if this is a reasonable comparison. Do we consider European play to be the equivalent of the NBA? I don't think so. Europe has numerous good players -- but not great. In a sense, US College ball is better than European ball because superstars play in the US (for at least a year) before moving on. The European system does not cultivate stars in the same way. Clearly Sergio and Rudy benefited from European ball in that they do not seem even slightly fazed by playing in the NBA. But there are a LOT more in terms of adjustments in the game between Europe and the NBA, than there are from NCAA to the NBA. Perhaps HTD is suggesting that in terms of *potential*, playing European ball is the same as NBA development. But I think this would also be inaccurate. From Petrovic to Stojakovic (with many others), there was a significant adjustment to the NBA game -- Drazen was 24 years old as a rookie, and hit his stride his third season. So I think HTD is incorrect to take number of years playing "professional" ball as indicative of future performance expectations. iWatas
I don't think Sergio has done anything to warrant a "Sergio needs to go" thread, tbh. He has been playing very well for us this year and is going to be a nice backup PG. HE is an assist machine.
Hey he is shooting .353 from 3 point land this year, which is almost respectable. It's his 2 point percentage that needs work.
30% shooting. Zero Defense. We can certainly do better than that. The fact that he speaks spanish and tucks Rudy into bed at night should not really be taken into consideration.
Man, I was expecting some "Sergio needs to G.O." ie Sergio needs more minutes with Oden to take advantage of the pick and roll.
