...could start 21-3 and have the media be shredding them for their lack of effort. Only Laker fans' could be upset by their start. Maybe we're too critical on these guys? They are 21-3, after all.
21-3 with most of the losses to subpar teams. They should be 23-1 with the sole loss to Detroit. They are underachieving IMO. It aint even past all star break and they are already slacking.
it is true that they have a good record, but I think that was expected with as much talent as they have. The fact remains that the defense is pathetic and they lack toughness (minus Kobe and Fisher).
Wanna trade 21-3. Kobe's mind is in June mode, Not December mode. However, Lakers IMO, beat Celtics in 8 days to prove a point.
In our past 10 games, only one team had a winning record. I believe the winning percentage of those teams comes to .360. Lakers have been winning, which is good, but they have to improve a lot if they want to beat the big dog in the NBA.
I felt the exact same way more than once this season, but what I kept reminding myself was that this team is after a championship and nothing less. Last season our expectations were so low that it made the season an awesome one. Now the bar has been set and its extremely high. So when we watch the Lakers and they aren't playing as well as we know they can and as well as we know they should, it sucks! Because not showing up is not acceptable for a contender. A win is a win none the less but I wanna see that hurt in them that comes with doing so well only to come up short at the very end. Last night on NBA TV, when asked by Chris Webber how he felt after losing in the finals the way they did, Kobe responded by saying he was "excited" because they are so good and they are right there. I hate that mentality. It's not Kobe-Like at all. Because being "right there" and being "so good" isnt going to get the job done. They have to be the best! And lets be honest, right now they are still #2. #2 might have been acceptable last season, but it's not anymore. We expect the best out of the Lakers and so should they. It's all or nothing this time around.
I want to see a little more before I get as upset as other people. I'll probably use the Celtic game as a good barometer for where our season is at.
I will start being content only IF the Lakers beat the Celtics come Christmas Day... If not then they are still a disappointment... Id rather have them shutting opponents down to win than score more points than the opposition.
We could be 24-0 right now... But with the way we've been playing recently, I'm not happy at all. It's okay to play down to competition once in a while, I mean, it's human nature. It's okay to come out lethargic once in a while, especially if you are a team this talented, but for seemingly an entire month? An entire month of uninspired basketball is unacceptable. Not even the three-peat teams were this lazy. When was the last game this team actually showed up to play? Probably like a month ago. The only player on this roster who is playing 100% every game is Pau Gasol. He has been terrific this season. Luckily for us, the schedule only gets harder from here (after Miami on Friday we have Orlando and Boston), so maybe this team will wake up soon and start playing. That way, we can really gauge and see how good this Laker team really is.
Yep. Only the Lakers have this kind of power. Maybe the Knicks as well, but we can't really say because they don't have a winning campaingin ages.
Agree with everything you said there...As far as players playing 100% I would add Ariza to that list. Obviously not the impact as Pau but he gives it his all. Be careful for what you wish for...
