Gross generalizations are the worst. Pathetic. You need to remove the "s" from fans. ONE poster called Aldridge selfish and then 11 responded refuting that claim. I'll take the passionate, intelligent Blazer fan base over any other in professional sports any day. Based on the large data set, there's bound to be a few who trend toward clueless, but the majority rise up and correct their erroneous ways. BNM
no matter what sports team or what season, some fans are going to be upset about something. They'll find one or two tag team partners on their favorite chat site, form a complaining brotherhood on their issue and soon feel they're representing the masses. I'm recalling the much hyped (Canzano) Jail Blazer protest rally back in the day when literally 5 people showed up to protest and 20,000 (or so) bought tickets to the actual game. So expect people to complain no matter what. No matter the heat of the bluster, don't assume that a few complainers are anywhere close to representing the pulse of the masses. After years of truly awful teams, heres guessing that a vast majority of Blazer fans here and overall are pretty happy with this young team going 16-10 with their tough schedule. I'd guess that if you were to start a rah rah go Blazers! thread, few would respond as there is little to discuss. Threads that express views outside the those felt by the masses are generally the ones with the most legs. STOMP
He has been looking like a mini ZBO lately...plus he takes way to long in the post sometimes, repost it dude!
I did not say ALL Portland fans are the worst, I just said Portland fans are the worst AND IT'S TRUE! Portland fans in general are the most ridiculous sports fans I've come across. Constantly overrating bad players and underrating good players. Thinking the average-at-best coaches the team has had are actually good. Rooting for pedophiles who call themselves the Kobe Stopper. I guess, in general Portland fans just don't have very much self respect. If you don't feel that applies to you than it doesn't, but it sure as hell applies to a lot of Portland fans.
Agreed. I'd rather have LaMarcus continue to be aggressive and looking for shot than thinking all the time "should I pass it? Should I shoot it?" That's what got him into that slump awhile back. LaMarcus is fine. Don't know why we're busting on the guy. We want LaMarcus shooting 15-20 times a game.
1. If Aldridge were more me-first, we would've won the Magic game. We lost because we stopped going to him. 2. No one on the team knows how to throw the ball to Oden. Part of that is learning how to play with a big guy. Part of that is not having confidence in his ability to not turn the ball over. And unfortunately, part of that is probably just being selfish.
The offense runs through two players. Our best two offensive players. We need to get them going in every game becasue we depend on them in the 4th. Keep shooting LMA! But work on the freaking hook shot, it needs to be money.
Another thing... if LA is establishing his J rather then dumping into the low post, doesn't that mean that Portland's dominant rebounder is probably the most likely guy on either squad to gather a miss? Aldridge establishing his J early pulls his man out of the paint leaving either Joel or Greg with only their Big to battle inside. Last night the Blazers pulled half as many offensive boards (19) as the Kings gathered overall (38). I see LA's high post game providing spacing/balance to Portland's attack... me likey STOMP
Me too, Stomp, but iirc we were being outrebounded at halftime. So IMO it wasn't that LMA was shooting the jump shot, but it opened up when he started making the jumper in the 2nd half
A lot of times it looks like a really bad angle when Oden throws up his hands for a pass. I'm not sure who's fault that is, Oden or the ball handler.
I'll go ahead and clarify my overreaction. Let me first off start by saying I love the insults. Unlike many people on the board who whine about them, I feed off them, so keep em coming. Second, this maybe my first post, but I've been around the boards for a few years now, and my username is a direct migration from BBF, before Outlaw was "me" first. I don't post often unless I see something outrageous, and this for me last night fit into that category. I probably overreacted a bit, but I challenge anyone to go back and watch the game and watch what Aldridge was doing last night. It's one thing to let if fly (which he should), but its something else when you're up by 15+points, and you've been ice cold all night, yet you continue to chuck and look Oden dead in the face under the basket wide open. This was not Oden streaking down the lane with is arms flailing, this was Oden directly under the basket for a point blank dunk. Oden at the very least had as good of a chance at throwing down a point blank dunk as Alridge had of making a contested jumper (I beleive at one point he was 3-15). He looked like Aldridge with Outlaws shot selection last night, a black hole.
Hey... I agree that Aldridge and the rest of the Blazer do pass up Oden a lot. BECAUSE he has show to be a turnover machine most times you try to throw the ball to him. Once he proves he can catch the ball and do something with it they will pass it to him more.
What I love more than anything else is a poster insinuating that a player who willingly comes off of the bench and plays out of position is a "me-first" player. LMA isn't, but neither is Outlaw.
As much as I still like Outlaw, do you really think the guy has a choice? He might have one though after that bone headed shot at the buzzer by Batum. With Webster back, this guy will never start period.
What I'm saying is that Outlaw has accepted the role without whining, and by most accounts he is a good friend to many players on the team, which means he isn't bitching or jealous about his role. I'll never understand why Outlaw gets so much criticism from ten or so posters here. It's like an obsession.
Aldridge can have a horrible shooting night (like the other night 6-20) and still make a positive impact on the other end of the court. To me, that's not a me first player.
