its a rumor so thus no big deal...but we do need to do something with Raef.....

endorsements? i think he has a few over in europe......

san antanio or maimi or dallas seem more ribio's style than new york.

Disagree about Serg being as good a defender as Blake or Nash. Nash is a tough comparison, because he is playing in a different system. Both are far better at keeping his man in front of them, IMO.

I don't care about Rodriguez' scoring... obviously his shooting is a weak point that needs to improve. I will admit he has court vision, but that alone is insufficient in a quality PG.

As far as O'Neal goes, I fail to see the relevance... Nice attempt at an insult.

Before we all begin to cannibalize our team and Bayless, let's wait until another source other then just mister Christopher confirms what J-Bay said. Or better yet, wait until KP or Bayless comment on the matter.

You want him to take out a loan for his buyout when he can just wait a few years and likely have little to zero for a buy-out and still be under 20 years old?

Rubio debate aside, I think this is common for a rookie. Outlaw was frustrated in his first year too. He wanted to be traded too. He complained too. You just didn't hear about it. I did. They just want to play. They just want to show what they can do. Bayless was taken higher than Outlaw, so I'd expect his frustration to be 10x worse. I'm not worried.

All his stats are down this year. He claims its because Phil is trying him to implement the triangle with the 2nd unit where before they were just run and gun. He also cant play a lick of defense

Wasn't there an almost identical story six weeks ago about how Sergio was frustrated and wanted more time or wanted to be traded. Result? He has been playing more. Maybe Bayless thinks the same technique will work for him and let him see some court. Who cares, Bayless won't be going anywhere IMO.

Williams was drafted ahead of Chris Paul. They were 3rd and 4th respectively.

Considering the suspect management teams of the teams drafting ahead of Utah (which at one point was Portland's pick with Nash and Patterson) and New Orleans - I do not think that is a fair assessment of why Paul and Williams were passed over. They would have passed over Rubio as well in the same circumstance.

I am going to assume that this report is BS. I bet Jerryd is frustrated, I would be if I were him. But saying he wants to be traded already? That seems unlikely...

Williams went #3 in the 2005 draft to the Jazz, Paul #4 to the Hornets

    http://www.nba.com/draft2005/

I think your projection of Rubio going before them as a 16 year old is way way off. Dude is nice, but isn't a top shelf athlete and really struggles with his J. I doubt any team would have taken a project like him ahead of studs like Paul and Williams... but please keep tooting your horn

If you had used any other measure of defense I might have agreed with you, but Sergio is clearly better than Blake at keeping his man in front of him. Blake has been statued so many times this year I'd need another couple hands and feet to keep count. Sergio has been much better in this respect. Better than Nash in that respect? I don't know, Nash is easily blown by, but sometimes he actually looks like a vet out there.

Absolutely. And without question if it meant going to New York.

    Would you not?

Like I said, between now and 2011 Rubio can:

Stay in Europe. Collect 80,000 euros a year (maybe get a raise, but it's unlikely since he's under a more strict euro contract). Compete against subpar competition. Get some european endorsements, maybe a few million euros. Enter the draft where a team like Milwaukee will likely be in contention. Begin his first year of a rookie contract.

    -- OR --

Pay $6.5MM buyout. Get drafted first or second this year. Play against the worlds best players. Have a chance to play in New York with D'Antoni and LeBron. Get a first year NBA rookie salary of $4MM and change. Depending on the market get $30MM or so in endorsements. Wake up in 2011 and realize you're one year away from free agency. Assuming of course he hasn't already been extended.

So Papa, if you were Rubio, which would you chose, and why?

The teams for the next decade and a half are being built right now. 2010 marks the beginning of a new era in basketball. 2011 is a year too late. I'll go ahead and predict right now that the team picking first in 2011 won't be in contention for an entire decade at least.
