This was a big game tonight. Portland got the Phoenix monkey off it's back, and didn't back down to a team that tried to bully them. That is a step forward. Phoenix is one of those past "good" teams that Portland has to get past to establish themselves. They helped do that tonight, by proving to themselves they could beat that team.

I also wanted to point out that Greg Oden, was showing that he was learning even from half to half. In the second half you will notice he started meeting Shaq at the top of the key, getting a body on him early and not letting him just head to the hoop. His offensive game is also showing signs. I think one of the major challenges right now is just to get him good touches, and get his confidence going. It will all come together after that.

Tonights porous defense on the perimter was a direct relation to the defense they were playing on Amare. If you watch game film, you will notice, they were actually double teaming him with a guard/big man sandwich even away from the ball. Their choice was that if they were going to lose, Richardson and Barnes were going to have to beat them. I don't know if it could have gone much worse for their defensive scheme, as Amare still ended up with 23. But he never really did get going, either. That may have been the difference.

I just got back. WOW!! Best game in years. I don't know if you were or not the "dancer", but it was the funniest stuff I've seen in years. I was crying, I am still LOL just thinking about it. It will be replayed for years.
Roy was amazing tonight. I wonder what Mchale thinking right now? I am sure he wants a muligan on that trade.:biglaugh::biglaugh:

Wow, I wonder if anyone has ever scored 50 points and had zero turnovers. I'd like to find that out.

The 6 assists is incredible as well when placed next to that 52 points.

I was offered free tickets to tonight's game - great seats, too, but had to turn them down because I was at work in Hillsboro until after 7:30 after I got home. I did catch most of the game on TNT, but man I wish I could have been there.

I just want to give props to everyone who was there. The crowd sounded GREAT. Way to represent Portland and the Trail Blazers on national TV.

Damon had zero TO in the game where he scored 54.

    But, only 1 assist.

    And zero rebounds.

I think Roy scored 52 as a statement to Greg Oden. Maybe he'll call Batum's number next.:ghoti:

Didn't he also do most of his damage from outside?

Not to take anything away from Brandon's performance, because it came against a much better opponent, but Tony Parker had 10 assists when he scored 55 against Minnesota earlier this year.

It should also be noted that Parker's 55/10 was in a double OT game. Parker had "only" 42 points at the end of regulation. He added 4 points in the first OT and 9 more in the second to get his 55.

So, Brandon Roy's 52 points tonight is the most any player has scored in regulation so far this season.

Cool. So we can possibly argue that Roy's game tonight may be one of the best individual performancesby a Blazer?
