    Frye sits, Ike plays.
    Memphis signs Miles, releases Walker.
    Why?
Why are they clearing a roster spot?
    Why are they signing Miles?

Is something going on with Frye and Memphis?

Frye and Bayless for Conley and Arthur? I would do that.

    Or,

    http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=4879441

Frye, Sergio and Bayless for Conley and Warrick.

I would do either of those trades. I don't want to see Bayless go, but all these rumors about how the Blazers feel he might not be a good fit is freaking me out.

Bayless clearly has good chemistry with Roy and was excited about last night's game even though he didn't get a minute of action. Frye is struggling right now, and Nate apparently decided to give Ike some run in Frye's spot to see if he could play, or even to light a fire under Frye.

Bayless isn't going anywhere. I don't know why people seem to think he is.

No doubt. His time will come (Personally, I hope it is sooner than later). KP targeted him for a reason, he will not deal him.
I did notice Bayless was going nuts on the bench last night...I doubt he wants out.

What is it with the Conley love with some people around here? The guy might eventually develop into an OK backup point guard, but he's got the same problems Sergio does with shooting, and he's not even half the assist man that El Chacho is and I don't consider Sergio starter material.

I still think Jerryd can be a better pro than Conley, mainly because he has pretty good mentors here with Blake and Roy that can teach him how to play. Conley's got no one in Memphis, and may not realize his full potential.

I don't know what Memphis is doing.....something tells me that Wallace doesn't know what he is doing either. Is a trade possible? Sure. I just don't get the Miles signing and I can't see Memphis keeping him, they are rebuilding right? What is Miles going to do with a rebuilding team? I know that he has been out for 2 years and just wants to get back into the league, but I don't see him being happy in Memphis.

It's not like Miles has signed a long term deal with Memphis. My guess is that he really does want to play and if he gets a chance to show that he still can, I'll bet somebody will take a flier on him in the off-season ... or Memphis might even offer him a two or three year deal depending on how he plays.

I know everybody wrings their hands over the ramifications his playing has on the Blazers cap space, but if he has truly matured and really wants to play, even though it might cost him a knee replacement, then who am I to begrudge him? The only issues I ever had with Darius were to do with him mailing it in and coasting at times after he signed his fat contract, his penchant for strippers and "living the NBA lifestyle" (as Canzano liked to call it) didn't faze me one bit. I don't think he was nearly the locker room cancer that people think he was/is.

Bayless still looks to me like the perfect long term compliment to BRoy. We would regret srewing that up. For a PG he plays big, physical, and fast. He plays aggressive D and is a good scorer as he can shoot from the outside, has a good medium jump shot, and can take it to the basket with the best of them. WTF is there not to like? True he is not a pure playmaker. But do you really want to take the ball out of Brandon's hands?

I don't think you want to put the full burden on Brandon, and Jerryd needs to be at least competent enough to run the offensive sets Nate wants, because there are going to be times when Brandon is getting trapped and hassled -- Jerryd being in the lineup needs to be able to take pressure off of Brandon, not put more pressure on him.

I think the issue with Jerryd is that he's never really been tasked with running a team. His lone year in college was blemished by the absence of Lute Olsen, and he got shifted to shooting guard when the team had an injury at that position, in high school and AAU his coaches let him play a "scoring" guard role.

But now the things you read about him and hear him say, suggest he's spending a lot of time in practice learning how to be more of a distributor and a floor general. I have no doubt Jerryd possesses the raw physical attributes and shooting ability this team needs out of a point, but it's going to take him some time to learn the nuances and subtleties of playing the most mentally demanding position in basketball at the NBA level and there's no way to know yet how well he'll be able to master those finer points. However, if he can stay patient and look at this season a little bit like a school lesson I have a gut feeling he's going to be a fixture in the rotation at some point. The brief glimpse we got at the end of the Kings game suggests that he's made at least a little progress.

No doubt what you are saying is true. But my point is what type of PG do you what long term to compliment Brandon? Someone like Conley who needs the ball in his hands to be effective or someone like Bayless who will keep other teams from double teaming Roy? No doubt Bayless need to learn a few things before he is ready, but so does Conley. He wouldn't play over Blake or Sergio this year either. The question remains which of the two is a better fit next to our allstar? Bayless to me brings more to the table.

Bayless has a skill set that compliments Roy very well. As others have said, the two of them seem to have a good relationship and it won't be long before we see them play together. Bayless was very high on the Blazers' list and I see no reason to trade him away at this point if it's not to get us a top level point guard.

I don't do either of those deals. Actually I don't even consider either of them.

IMO Frye is at least as good as Warrick and Arthur, and Bayless is superior to Conley.

I think we're in full agreement. I don't see Conley as having a very good complimentary skill set paired up with Brandon in the backcourt. Bayless on the other hand seems to possess the speed and "big" body necessary to deal with the more physical point guards in the league on the defensive end (cutting off dribble penetration, not as easy to post him up) and his offensive skill set (slashing, shooting and off-ball capabilities) seem almost ideal.

At this point I think it's pretty clear Brandon is the franchise player and pieces need to fit around him as much or more than they need to fit around Greg.

That's the impression I get, too. Unfortunately for Randolph trade possibilities :)
