I'm looking at the schedule and we have a chance over this next week to get into the race. It's doable. The Lakers next play the Magic, Grizzlies, Hornets, and Celtics. All 4 of those games are losable and would drop them to a 21-8 record. If we can win our three games against Denver and Dallas, which is absolutely doable, our record would rise to 20-10. That would put us 1.5 games behind the Lakers with three more head to head matches left during the season. Then, when you consider our schedule gets easier as the season goes on, we actually have a shot of catching them and passing them. Of course, we would have to hold off the Rockets and Hornets, but we've beaten both of them so we definitely have a chance. Believe Harder. Go Blazers
eh ... It's a nice dream, but this team doesn't play good enough D to take and hold the number one seed this year.
Yeah... the Lakers are still the class of the West. I'd rather focus on the NW Division title, and with Denver losing tonight, they could lose again tomorrow in Phoenix. If they do, we head into our back to back with the Thuggets tied at 17-10. I can't wait for Monday and Tuesday. Those games are HUGE
I agree with the others that the focus should be winning the NW Division. I think the Jazz will be our main competition though.
Winning the NW Division Title starts in Denver, we have them in a back2back don't we? If we could take both of those games it would really help the cause for winning the NW title. I think that it is going to be a dog fight between Portland, Denver, & Utah, but I like our chances.
Give it a rest guys. We have yet to prove we can even beat Utah or Denver. Right now, we are closer to 3rd in our division/fighting for the 8th seed, than we are to chasing the #1 seed.
We won't catch up to the Lakers this year, but I still feel like we have a shot at winning our division. Hey all, isn't it fun to check the standing after every game again? I'm actually interested in how our division rivals do after every game... it's been a while since I've wanted to do that. This feels good!
Why do people think Denver is better than us? They barely have a better record and they've played a much easier schedule. Oh, and we beat Denver twice last year, including a game IN Denver.
Not saying we're getting the No. 1 seed, but nice to see the Lakers lose again tonight. Odom looks terrible for them, Bynum doesn't even play for them in the fourth and the Magic are a pretty good team.
I don't know if the Lakers are "done" but they are definitely falling apart. There is too much drama on that team, every year you hear about something. Yes it happens in basketball, but there are plenty of quality teams who don't have this kind of drama, and when they do, they resolve it. Just because the Lakers are in Hollywood they and their fans turn everything into a soap opera.
Beating them last year is nothing like beating them this year. Camby is very overrated and AI sucks. Chauncey has made them a MUCH MUCH better team
So what. The last couple of games were very hard - the Cavs are an elite team this year and we had no better luck against PHX in the desert... This is going to be a hard couple of games. I expect us to split - but hope for better, but - it is not going to be easy.
So what, the Lakers have lost 2 in a row, and I can still say they are the best team in the western conference. I seem to remember us losing 3 in a row only 10 days ago too
