Kidd was calling Vince soft around the locker room and he didn't care for him all that much, lol. You don't have to be a "nets fan" to see some of these things. I'm not trolling, I've called Vince (and his soft cousin) "soft" for some time now. don't get caught up "clutch" stats, because numbers in the final minutes come under different circumstances I can think of an entire list of players that I'd rather have down the stretch in a big close ball game.....Bron, Wade, Kobe, Pierce, Paul, Duncan, Nash, Billups, etc.....and lol @ dissing an over the hill Olajuwon....I'm not sure what the point of that was supposed to be.......... an intelligent human would also remember how he admitted to quiting on his team in toronto, lol....I don't care how bad the people around you are, that's no excuse to open a can of quit.
The Cavs right now have three players under contract for 2010-11: James, Gibson and Hickson. Add Carter to that mix and it does limit their ability to fill out the roster...and you have to assume Carter will be worth $17 million that year. I believe he will, but it's a risk. That's a lot of money (and with the economy the way it is, the salary cap, luxury tax threshold and all the MLE and LLE numbers will be driven down). I also note that the sourcing for Stein's report that the Cavs are still interested in Carter is "a rival executive" who says he's still on their list. That's hardly definitive.
VC never "admitted" to quitting. This has been one of the biggest misconceptions in recent NBA history.
"soft" gets thrown around too commonly. Kidd calling VC soft for quitting on a team? That's a WTF moment.
I never heard of Kidd calling VC soft. There were rumours, but with VC, there will always be rumours. I do remember Kidd calling out the team for mentally letting go of the rope, and if I remember correctly, VC didn't play in that game.
the interview was edited and its pretty obvious when you watch it. but vc haters hold onto it like the holy grail of why he sucks. i think it would be better for both parties if vince went to cavs. cavs get better, nets get his huge contract off their hands and they have flexibility in the future.
Link? Oh? So you decide to ignore the truth while Vince is listed on the top of the league? Try to study hard, good boy. You are ignorant. So , did you read my quote?
How does giving away your best player for future cap while this team has chance for playoffs make the Nets better? We already have cap for 2010, we need talent for talent. I admit, it's much better for drama and talking smack, but really... bottom feeder cap teams rarely improve.
they were even talking about it last night on ESPN, lol... I'm not ignoring anything and I'm sure I've been watching basketball a lot longer than you, and realize what "clutch" really is. "End of the game" stats are not a good indication of who is and isn't clutch. For example...Kobe has been in a lot of blowouts this year, so naturally his "end of the game" stats aren't going to be through the roof. There are also a lot of games which "pressure" is not a factor in the last few minutes for either the team that's winning or losing. A good indicator of seeing who is or isn't clutch is by taking a good sample of "real" clutch situations (like tough playoff games...you know when it counts) and looking at how that individual performed....you're insane if you'd take Vince to win a game for you in a fourth quarter over the guys I listed......Bron, Kobe, Wade, Manu, etc. have the track records, wins, and rings to prove it.............. yes and he's still saying that "he doesn't play hard," because of his talent.....that's pathetic......
lol, I wonder why???.....I'm just saying I've been calling Tmac, Dirk, and Vince soft for years. I've had those who have disagreed and we've argued it out, but the fact remains that these guys shouldn't be trusted as your top guns in "real" critical situations.......
oh so it must be true get vince out while his value is as high as its gonna get. like kidd last year. we had a chance to make playoffs but we got him out cause it was better in the long run. and plus, why would you want this softy on your team? heck, why would any team want vince? get him to the grizzlies or the twolves where he belongs. its proven: hes old, he sucks, he has no heart. get him outta the league!
what???....I guess if I came with an ESPN article claiming Kidd loved VC, then it would be okay.............they asked for the source and I gave it to him.
Jason Kidd never called Vince soft publicly and I don't remember him saying anything like that and I've watched the nets for the last 10 years. Also everything you mentioned was when Vince was with Toronto, during his time with the nets he's been anything but soft. He was with toronto nearly 5 years ago. Do you realize how long ago that was?? Especially when you consider that NBA careers last 10-15 years.
That's true, when he was asked how he went from 17ppg with Toronto to 28ppg with NJ in the same season he said something like "That's what happens when you're playing with a great point guard (Kidd). I think it's funny that 1. People are even speculating about this trade, including the Cavs organazation. 2, people seem to think that getting Vince or Antawn would guarantee a ring for the Cavs when there are at least two teams in the east that could still beat them in a series.
I also don't understand why the nets would trade Vince. It's just bad business to do it. He still has name recognition and because of him the nets sell out at road arenas. We already have capspace, how much more do we really need? I don't see any reason to have 30+ million in cap space for 2010. We'll just be a crappy team that won't be able to attract anyone. With VC and Devin we're an enticing bottom playoff team along wit the development of Lopez and Yi. Trading Vince accomplishes nothing but setting us up for failure like the Grizzlies and Thunder. Both those teams have had capspace for the past two years but can't get anyone to come there and with the Izod center and lack of home fans no free agent would ever want to come here unless this was a team one player away. Even being a playoff team might not be enough for a star to come to NJ in 2010.
of course he didn't....jerry stackhouse wouldn't call dirk soft publicly either, lol. He hasn't done anything to make me believe that he's still somewhat of a softie.........
