You mean 24 not 21? I've always known he wasn't that young, from the day of the draft. There's absolutely no way he is 21 years old.
I personally wouldn't be surprised if he is really 24. but using a blog as the source of the article is kinda LOL.
that shit was halarious. he just sat there with a blank look on his face, smiled, kind of laughed, then had the same blank look until he was done signing and drove off.
What's the point of even ask him? I mean if he says he's 21, are you going to believe him? Everyone questions the authenticity of the birth certificate he provided, yet this school card is obviously concrete evidence. If you believe he's 24, there is really nothing anyone can do to change your mind. Greg Oden must be glad that he's not born in africa, try passing him for a 21 year old.
This week, there was a Chinese reporter that said Yi had a shoulder injury. That turned out to be BS. Also, that class photo has been floating in the internet for a long time. People have been saying it's photo shopped. Yi can be 24 or 30 years old according to some Bucks fans. However, there is no real solid evidence. A guy producing some fake looking document that anyone could have made is questionable. Yi is a young looking guy. This is turning into a conspiracy theory.
Good thing the Bucks got Jefferson for him. If the truth came out that he was 24, Yi would have definitely slipped in the draft. He owes several people millions of dollars. He also cost the Bucks a chance at a better prospect. On top of that he committed "age fraud" and deceived the NBA and his team in China. I guess that makes Yi a disgrace on and off the court.
Isn't it the Chinese government that provides those false papers not Yi? Cost the Bucks at a chance of a better prospect? Like who? Only names that comes to my mind is Thornton, Noah?
Funny you just mentioned Bucks fans, there is already a post on the top page in Real GM about how RJ is a overpaid jump shooter that came in this season out of shape. Some of them want Yi back or even Simmons for cap space. Their record is no better with RJ from last season. I guess you didn't watch the Olympics this year. There was so much "evidence" on the Chinese gymnast of faking their age to be older. The reports produced some documents as well, but they were all things that were easily faked. It's shocking only until you think about it. This stuff gets rehashed every year about Yi's age. it's the same info over and over. I'm pretty sure the same will happen with all the gymnasts as well. Let me put it this way, Yi's passport and official government ID all say Yi is 20 years old. Like the Chinese gymnasts, this will be a national scale conspiracy. If it is indeed all a lie.
Thornton, Wright (both of them), Young, and Hawes. As for Yi, I'm sure he knows his real age. And if he is willfully committing age fraud, then I think he should be fined severely. But I honestly don't know too much about the Chinese government and all that other stuff. I do, however, remember reading that his own teammates in China have questioned his true age though.
Lets say Yi is really 21, and he comes out and say that he is 21. and his parents come out to confirm that he's 21. Are you going to believe him? Are all these shit gonna go away? obviously not. And both Yi and his parents have said that Yi is 21(or born on 1987). Still did the none believers change their mind? They provide his birth certificate, people question the authenticity of it. They provided Chinese passport, people say it is fake. Ok, so obviously there is no way he can prove he's 21. Lets say Yi is really 24, and he lied about his age. Chinese had a history of manipulating age of their athletes, it wouldn't come out to be a surprise. but there is no way you can get anything concrete to prove this. Let me just ask everyone one last question. If Yi really is 21, and for those of you who believe that he's 24, what can he do to change your mind?
I would never expect an honorable institution like the Chinese government to falsify documents. My mind has been blown.
