agreed... but what makes up athleticism is subjective. IMO they're pretty close but I'd side with BR as I equate the term athleticism mostly with explosiveness.

Maybe athletic was the wrong word. Given Carmelo's height and strength advantage, IMO he has the better physique.

There is no doubt in my mind at all that I would take Roy over Anthony. Roy is a far better team player. Hell even a better 1 on 1 player. I bet money Roy would murder Anthony 1 on 1 to 11.

he plays the next position up... doesn't most every 3 have height and strength over BR?

I think ANY GM would take Roy over Carmelo, and Denver would trade Anthony and more for Roy, but Portland would just laugh.

I think Roy was better last year. Anthony is the better scorer (maybe not anymore though, as Roy has taken it to another level) and they are roughly equal at rebounding, but everything else I think Roy is better at including all of the things that don't show up on the stat sheet (leadership, versatility, clutch, etc...).

Anthony is a scorer only, as mentioned earlier posts in this thread. Roy is certainly more multi-dimensional, although as a GM would you consider marketability above individual performance?

I would take Roy over Melo in a hearbeat, tho'...

'Melo is not only a scorer - he is a pretty decent rebounder for his position this year as well. If he can work on his defense he is going to be a great player to have.

Melo is a good defender when motivated. It's just that he's not motivated very often.

They did and interview with Chauncy Billups and he said that Melo is still very much a kid and makes lots of mistakes with judgement. A great player but very youthful basically. With Roy you don't get that impression at all. He's the leader of this team, he knows how to carry himself and be a pro day in and out! With that alone, he's head and shoulders ahead of Melo and Roy is younger.

You can have all the talent in the world but can you lead? It's clear Chauncy is now the leader of the Nuggs after what a month? Roy is the leader of the Blazers since he was drafted!

Sorry don't, I'm pretty sure it was on Rome a couple weeks back when they were interviewing Chauncy on being in Denver. I do remember him saying many times that Melo is just a kid and shouldn't be judged to hard and things like that. You would never hear anyone say that about Roy!

Sure, but the higher up you go, the rarer it is to have the prototypical physique for your position.
