Tex reportedly wants to be signed by Christmas, which of course is only a week away. This would move Kevin Youkilis to third, put Mike Lowell on the trading block, and give the BoSox one HELL of a lineup.

You would have to think the Angels would go hard after Manny if they can't get Teixeira, too.

I still don't see the point. I don't think he's worth that kind of commitment

Yeah, MLB.com is reporting Henry saying "Red Sox are not a factor" in the Texiera sweepstakes. I mean he's a good First baseman but damn, he's not worth $23 million. How much more production will he give ppl that Giambi wouldn't? Spending in baseball has been ridiculous and I wish they'd throw a cap on this stuff just to screw the Yanks like the NBA did to the Knicks. A salary cap would also give a shot to lower teams like the Royals or Pirates to sign studs or keep their young studs.

I'd love the Sox to sign him, but I wouldn't be crushed if it didn't happen. That's a buttfuck load of money we'd be giving him. I really rather he didn't go to New York though.

Teixeira is a gold glove first baseman in the field, which I think some people may be forgetting. Other guys out (Giambi, Dunn, etc.) are a negative with the glove. I don't know if that makes Tex worth $23 million, but I think it makes him worth more than those other guys.

And yes, that article was posted today, about 2 and a half hours ago.

    1) On the field, I'm not overly concerned. The Yankees were going to get Manny anyway, if not Tex. The Sox are by no means inferior to the Yankees.

    2) Those contract figures are nothing that the Sox FO couldn't have matched/topped. So that's frustrating. I was hoping that if Tex went to the Yankees, Boras could have bled an insane amount of money out of them, like +$200 mil. So the FO fucked up on the cash.
