How fun is it to watch NBA games these days, and how effective is it in terms of showing you how basketabll should be played? For myself, I have become so serious with basketball I frankly don't find it as entertaining anymore, as players rarely play deence, know nothing of defensive rotation, shoot everytime and care more about themselves than winning. Alot of things done in your average game are plain dumb, and I find myself watching the NBA less and less.Your opinions on the state of the NBA?

I like the way B-Ball was played before.Competitve. I don't really see that much defense no more and that what makes it boring. Its just score, score, score, score and nothing else. I agree. I am watching NBA games less now(cept. for Rocket games).

Im not watching the NBA less and less, but I really do miss the olden NBA days. Im talking about when teams knew how to play real defense. Im talking about the mid 90's Rockets, Bulls, Knicks, Heat. They knew how to play hard nosed defense. With all of the new rule changes, offense is a first priority in this league. You cant even give someone a hard foul nowadays. I remeber when McHale clothesline Ramsy for a foul. This year I saw Mike Doleac took Parker by the neck and threw him down for a hard foul, but he got ejected quickly. The NBA has become a soft league. If you even look at the ref the wrong way, its an automatic tech. This is the same reason why fans dislike Danny Fortson and Bruce Bowen. Beause they play phsyical instead of this finese sort of game that we see every day. This is the exact reason why I love watching Mourning play so often. He plays so physical, though he gets in trouble with it a lot with the new rule chagnes by the refs.

The Nba went down hill when MJ retired. Now it's getting better with all the new talent comming in. Teams like Detroit and spurs playing basketball like it's supposed to be played. Teams like Dallas and Suns who have improved their defense compared to last year.I think it's getting better.Lol,so true. You cant guard offensive players like in the past. That is why scoring 50 now is nothing, scoring has been devalued,

I don't think I have ever watched the NBA with so few elite defensive players, I just don't see a lot of fire anymore. But I still watch it, a lot of young talent right now. The rules for guarding wing players is ridiculous, you have all these guys getting 27ppg and nobody can do anything about it. It doesn't help that every year 1/3 of the NBA gets a new coach, all these constant trade rumors..etc...Instead of all that crap, report on the games and what happens in them...

I think the possiblity of any player scoring 50 on a given night keeps me watching, but like I said I just can't stand the lack of intensity

Well I wasn't watching back in the days of Jordan. I just started a few years ago. I think the offense is really fun to watch, great shooters, dunkers but you guys alright we need more defense. And also the contracts that players recieve have become an issue. Some players don't try hard because they already know their a millionairre. And I don't blame them. I would probably do the same thing. But I think that players' contracts should be lowered. I think the NBA attendance is going to rise once the young superstars like Amare, Wade, Lebron, Melo, Bosh, Paul develop and become superstars. I'm just waiting for a new franchise to develop. But I think that the NBA is going in the right direction. So many other young talents too like Nate Robinson, Hakim Warrick, Andre, CV31 and Raymond Felton. I think the fans want excitement and that's what their going to get. For all the guys who like to watch good defense it could be a rough decade for you.

I think the State of the Game has been improving since the end of the Jordan Era. We have had some dynasties, but every year there are 4 or five teams competing for the championship. This year it is Miami, Detroit, San Antonio, Phoenix, and Dallas. Detroit and San Antonio both play the type of defense that you like to see in a team. Dallas and Phoenix have also picked up their defense.I think since you have no clear cut favorite to win the title, the State of the NBA is very good right now.

Just because there are multiple title contenders doesn't mean the state of the game is great, when Chicago was winning it every year did you think the state of the game was poor because their were not multiple title contenders?

The state of the game will peak again when a mega superstar gets into the NBA finals. Whatever it be Kobe, Lebron, Shaq-Wade, Amare, ect. Tim Duncan is not in that class. He is good as it gets, but he doesnt bring the same flavor as the other guys would to bring major interest into the sport.

Isn't scoring supposed to be the exciteing part?? I personally would rather see a guy drop 50 than play tough defense.

All the money that the players are getting is really screwing it up. Most players only play to get a crapload of money. They don't really care about the game as much as people used to.

Regular games are fun, but there isn't that much defense, but playoff games are awesome to watch and go to especially. They play the best defense they can play and move the ball because you don't win with a one man team.

The NBA is really the most boring league to watch in the US. They don't play good basketball at all, it's just not fun. Now, in college they play the right way and people really care. I still watch the NBA though because I love basketball and I have a great exciting home team to watch. The league is getting better though. I like what David Stern is doing spreading the NBA around the world, getting more NBA fans. And even though the all-star game stuff is pretty eh... it's still better than in other sports leagues.

I don't know why you people like to watch good defense. Personally I would rather watch someone light it up from beyond the arc, dunk it or slam down an alley oop then watch someone play gritty defense. I don't know what you guys are complaining about. As long as someone isn't playing Jalen Rose type defense i'm happy with it.
