You know, I've been wondering for two weeks why teams aren't doing what Denver did tonight. Run a double team at him every time he gets the ball past half court in the 4th quarter. He'll have to give up the ball and who else is going to step up? Maybe Travis, but I'd take my chances with a guy having to make 20' jumpers (as Outlaw typically does) rather than Roy getting to the basket and free throw line. I think we will see a lot more of that going forward. Teams aren't going to let Brandon beat them in the 4th quarter. Until other guys start stepping up, this is what we'll see more of. Does it mean he's not a superstar that he's FORCED to give up the ball? Give me a break. Would you rather he tries to dribble through the double team? That's obsurd. You don't see anybody outside of Kobe firing up shots with 2/3 guys on him. Not even Labron or D-Wade.
Blunt, but not enirely untrue. Roy is a stud, and star in the league even. What the diferences are between he and someone like Lebron or Kobe is that they will keep shooting and attacking. I agree that Roy isn't a superstar player, but even the great ones get outplayed by scrubs. Outlaw and Veeektor had dominant games against the L*kers and Kobe.....It happens.
roy does tend to hold the ball too long when the double team comes at him too. he gets caught too deeply in the double before he looks to pass and it's usually an off balance pass to somebody that is standing 5 feet passed teh 3 point line. part of the problem is that nobody is cutting to the hoop, mainly travis. but roy does need to move the ball faster to catch the double teamer out of place.
Agreed 100%. LaBradford Smith lit up Michael Jordan in his prime once. Only once, of course, but it happens. Roy should have been more aggressive tonight, but the fouls and missed layups knocked him off of his game. Hopefully it's a learning experience for him. Ed O.
The day that Roy starts thinking more like Sabas than like Kobe, that's the day he will begin to help this team be a winner. Right now, he just wants to be Kobe.
problem is...nobody ever wnats to blame roy. He was awful tonight and usually even when superstars are awful...they still get 20 points. this blazer team will win games when roy is on and the jumpers are falling. if both arent working....they have no chance unless they make a move for a slasher.
Roy acted like the refs would be in awe of his last game. Instead of taking the shot the defense would give him, he tried the force the issue. He was slow to pass out of double teams and made bonehead plays on the defensive end to boot.
Not really.... First, Roy only played 32 minutes and only took 11 shots. With 11 shot and 2 free throw attempts its hard for anyone to score 20 points shooting their normal fg%. Also, Paul Pierce is a superstar and is not even averaging 20ppg this year, same with Steve Nash, Tmac, etc. I blame this loss on Chauncey not being handled well. Looking at the box score he didn't shoot that well, but he has 10 assists and ZERO turnovers. If a point guard plays 42 minutes and has no turnovers he is not being guarded closely enough.
Not to be a prick, Jurassic, but it's a revelation that our defense against PG's isn't that good (again)?
The refs gave Roy the scrub treatment tonight. It's as simple as that. One of the more poorly officiated games I have seen this year. Reminded me a bit of the Golden State game earlier this season.
Denver's D had something to do with that. He's in a no-win situation when teams run double teams at him, at least when the rest of the team isn't helping him out. He almost has to force the issue. If he doesn't, he'll get criticized that he's too passive and that a "real" superstar finds a way to elevate his game past double teams. If he forces it and he's not making plays, then he's ball hogging and forcing shots. He still had his moments tonight, even in a "bad" game. Like the play he spun/split that double team and dished to Oden for the dunk. Gosh guys, I'm as dissapointed in tonights loss as anyone . . . but as many nights as Brandon has bailed us out of a heartbreaking loss by being Mr. Clutch, I don't have the heart to criticize him for one off night. Especially after his 52 point spot he put on display last game. I can't see this team being anywhere close to .500 w/o him. He's flat our carried us so many nights.
These attacks on MIXUM are ridiculous. You guys are pissed about the loss and you're turning on him out of frustration. He has a right to state his opinion, and it's a fair one. This was a very disappointing performance by Roy, and there's no getting around it.
Hey guys, here is how to use the ignore list. Go to UserCP (third button in the top red bar above), then, in the left sidebar of the UserCP page, the third section down is Settings & Options, and the last item in that section is Edit Ignore List. Click on that and add the name(s) of the posters that irritate you. You won't see their posts again. It is a far, far better way of dealing with those whose opinions you can't stand than launching personal attacks. barfo PS: Sorry, but I don't think you can put mods on ignore.
Mixum is certainly entitled to vent his frustrations. How can we be dissapointed in Roy though? He got two early fouls and never got back to the flow of the game. Doesn't he get a mulligan? I Mean, if it weren't for Brandon we're probably 11-17 instead of vice versa.
