Close up shots are decent but when they go back to the full-court shots the picture is absolutely horrible. It's like watching the game on a Zenith TV from 1985. The quality has always sucked and you really can see just how bad it is when a Blazer game is also televised on ESPN/TNT.
I agree with Fez while watching the broadcasts on Comcast Sportschannel... the closeups look fine, but the wide shut sucks ass. It makes me wonder if there's something wrong with their primary (wide shot) camera. Ed O.
That wasn't HD. The was non-HD broadcast on HD channel. It wasn't broadcast out of Denver in HD for some reason.
Whether it's HD or not isn't really the point, as I understand it. The wide shot looks like horse crap in SD. The tighter shots look fine. I complained about this with Comcast Sportschannel (looking like vaseline was smeared on my screen) and, alas, it's gotten no better. The great part, though, of last night's game was that it was a KGW game, so I got to watch the Denver broadcast, although listening to their announcers was even worse than the Blazers' homerism. Ed O.
Yes, but I can tell you this. I have watched a CSNW game side by side with a NBATV broadcast, and the NBATV broadcast did not have the problem. I believe the problem is the way comcast is sending the signal out, it is being compressed or is being upscaled. Something they are doing is F'ing it up.
I agree with Hasoos, and the Blazers seem to be aware Comcast has a problem... but Comcast hasn't done anything to fix it. CSNW has a blurry picture all the time. The broadcast from the Blazers comes out fine... then it goes to Comcast and they fuck it up so they can send it out on their shitty CSNW channel with the bandwidth of a dialup modem. I've complained to everyone who will listen. Comcast says contact Verizon. Blazers say problem is with Comcast in Troutdale. With the amount of money Comcast has wasted on adds telling us to nag or TV providers... they could have really built this fiber network they claim to have. (Even though they mean *internally* they use fiber... they still have the same old coax to your house)
IDK; the picture quality sucks anytime the BLAZER banners adorn the sides of the broadcast, hopefully tonight with it being on channel 788 or whatever it is, it'll be better.
And why is comcast always late on getting the damn broadcast working on 788 anyway? It's never on, when its says it is.... and i always miss the shit in HD.
Well damn then... that ruins my whole argument. =) In my opinion... the pic quality is better on KGW even when the games are SD. I didn't really have a problem with the picture last night. Tonight... I will throw up in my mouth when the game starts... but because it is the Blazers... I will swallow and drive on.
Is it really that hard to understand that it's simply the difference between SD and HD? Watch any game on any network in SD and they all look like crap. And in case you are confused if you see the Blazer or ESPN sidebars then the game is being broadcast in SD so yes it will look like garbage. Especially wide shots where you will see even less detail. All NBA TV games are in HD so if you are comparing an NBA TV broadcast to an SD Blazer broadcast then it will be night and day. It really isn't that difficult to understand, why the hell do so many people get confused with this very simple concept!!! Just because you are watching the HD channel doesn't mean the game is in HD, remember it will be in 16x9.... Nevermind I don't have time for this. If you don't get it yet than you need to do some homework or quit bitching about something you aren't very educated about. Why did I just waste the last 5 minutes of my life typing this?
