maybe thats why they signed miles...stop the blazers from becoming better.

Heres the blazer part from the article...

Im on board with Memphis. The Grizzlies remind me of Portland from last season. I don’t think they’ll win as many games but if they continue to progress, they could be a playoff team next year. They’re different from Portland because Portland is all about jump shooters but the Grizzlies have slashers who can get to the basket. There’s a lot on their roster to like.

hard to disagree with what he says. we really dont have guys taht get to the line. if we dont hit the jumpers...we are f@2cked just like tonight vs denver. Pritchard needs to tarde for SF that can slash and score without relying on his jumper. Also a backup PF seems to be a need as well.

Once Oden is healthy, he'll eat his words....which oddly don't exist because he's not saying anything about being more promising.....

Can't disagree either. The Grizz now have two players that attack the rim. That's one more than Portland.

And they play a PG who shares the rock and sets up his teammates.

well then thats just a bad job on our GM. Im so sick of hearing "let the cake bake." We know what we have. We know what we dont have as evident tonight vs denver. I think the f'in cake is over cooked at this point. KP should realize we dont have time to wait for martell (another jump shooter) to return. Batum isnt the answer at SF right now. We need a slasher scorer. Roy cannot do it every night. His body wonmt make it through teh season. Aldridge is a jump shooting PF who rarely bangs.

Remeber Denny Green when he coached Arizona. "they are who we thought they were" quote? Well thats what teams are saying about the bLazers. JUMP SHOOTERS AND NO INSIDE GAME. Take away roy and let them shoot jumpers. Barkely said it a year ago...and is still on the money.

i mean what the hell is KP waiting for? He doesnt know what we have in outlaw, frye and sergio? They are all guys who should be traded for players thatt can actually help us make the playoffs. We have raefs contarct and we dont do anything. Its getting annoying. MAKE A F"in trade to help this team. How many more times do we need to see outlaw take awful shots? How many more times do we need to see frye commit a dumb foul cause he couldnt rebound? How many more times do we need to see sergio get schooled by backup pgs? ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Hmm... there is a third type of player. Guys that live near the basket and take the ball to the hole from near the hole. The Blazers have an excellent guy in that department, if he can just get a little confidence going.

Not to mention, I would say the Blazers have at least three guys who fit the description of "slasher" types: Brandon Roy, as well as Travis Outlaw, and Rudy Fernandez. Does the offense need to be mixed up, or do these other guys need to be given better opportunities to slash, rather than spot up? No doubt. But don't for a second say that the Blazers only have one slashing player. (Batum has some slashing skills, as well, and so may Martell Webster when he returns...)

I think once we get a spot up 3 point shooter it will make more sense. I'm personally not worried....Jerryd Bayless is an attack the basket type of player...he's just not getting the burn to do so. Overall, I'm not worried...we'll be fine once the dust settles and Martell is back and Oden gets healthy and comfortable.

and stays out of foul trouble.

Rudys game = threes, wild shots, alley oops.

cant make a pull up jumper to save his life. his defense is the risky type. steal or hes burned.

I don't get it. You're lamenting about slashers and attackers being absent from our team, yet when we bring up one you start complaining about him not being a spot up shooter?

I agree this team is loaded with slashers.

But slashers need passing PG's like Sergio to get them the ball in the right spot.

I kind of agree with the sentiment about the Backup PF....and a slashing PF though. I wouldn't trade a lot of our players though as I think they fulfill a good role on our team.

If we can trade crap + Raef for Gerald Wallace, then I'd be happy.

I agree with that, but it'll be a few seasons before he's ready to be a big contributor on a playoff team.

TO and Rudy are not slashers. They are jump shooters.

Sure he's ready...he couldn't get much worse than Sergio was tonight. Just needs to get comfortable...he screwed up in his minutes...but every screwup is a learning experience.

Do you actually watch games? Rudy can finger-roll with amazing accuracy, and he can use glass on running floaters better than anyone I've seen lately. Besides, the point was about "slashers" and guys that attack the rim. Fernandez does that - except when he falls in love with his three... That's his problem, and I'll agree with you there.

I think Kobe would disagree with you, after having had to deal with Rudy's defense in the Olympics. Fernandez is a solid defender, though because of his youth, he does try for steals a little more than he should. He's excellent at getting deflections, keeping balls alive, and generally being active on defense. He's not a "stopper" - but he's quite good.
