and 20) is our own Steve Blake (16).

So if the Blazers are to upgrade the PG spot, I just don.t see where the upgrade would come from. Paul, Harris, Parker, Billups, Rondo, Calderon, Stucky and Deron Williams are all darn near untouchable without giving up one of our big three, and some might not even be available no matter what package we put together.

Of the rest of these players, there are major problems with each. They would either be old (Nash, Kidd), expensive in what we would have to give up(Mo Williams orJameer Nelson) ,Injury issues ( Davis), Bad on D (Robinson, Nash, Ford) or just a tiny upgrade over what we already have (Ford, Sessions)

I guess there is a lot of talk about upgrading, but i just don't see where that upgrade would come from. Any ideas?

Blake is not our problem; our second unit is.
they just dont have the consistency or the defense ability

    Ramon Sessions!! lol..

I like Devin Harris, Sessions, and Stuckey from that list (along w/ Parker, Williams, Paul and Nash obviously).

What do you guys think about Ramon Sessions?

I liked Ramon in college but I have not got a chance to see how his game has translated to the NBA yet, so no opinion.

we dont need a pg upgrade, except maybe defensively. we could use some more scoring on the 1st unit from the sf spot imo.

Steve Blake is an excellent 3-point shooter and OK defender. He's a below average passer and doesn't deliver the ball into the post well.

There are 32 players ahead of Blake in assist average right now. Maybe I'm a purist, but I'd like to see my starting PG getting more than 4.5 dimes.

Stuckey is a perfect fit next to Roy. He's an all-around guard with defense.

However, this summer it was reported by ESPN that Detroit rejected an offer from Memphis that would have netted the Pistons with the #5 pick for Stuckey. If they trade him it wont be cheap.

Captain Kirk is the only realistic option missing from this list - but the answer is really that Blake is not the real issue for us - it's the 2nd unit PG - and the solution might be already on the roster - either Bayless at the 1 or Rudy as the play maker with Bayless playing more #2 on offense.

At the same time, it can be argued that there wasn't much beyond the top 3 players in the draft. There are a few good players (like Rush) but overall, it can be seen why they turned it down.

Stuckey reminds me so much of Rod "Wheres the Liquor Store" Strickland, without the Liquor store part!

it's likely most of the PG on that list would have lower PER's if they were playing with Roy (or Kobe or Wade). i think a more relevant stat for us is blake 7th or 8th best starting PG in TS%. pretty hard to upgrade that.

    Sure.

I wanted to use our draft pick to hope and pray that Chris Paul would fall to us. Lost our point guard there.

Then, I was strongly in favor of getting in on the Jason Kidd trade and coming away with Devin Harris, as long as we didn't give up any of the big three. Lost our point guard there.

Then, when Dumars said his entire team was on the block, most Blazer fans focused on Prince as our target. I thougt the price for Prince would be set too high. The guy I wanted to target was Billups. I thought he had just enough mileage left, and would be the best fit out of the older point guards (Bibby, Nash, Miller, Terry) to be worth giving up something good to get. Lost our point guard there.

Now, I am out of home run ideas. Bunt?

swing for the fences with bayless. his upside can't possibly be any worse than a taller better-defending version of jameer nelson,
who happens to be #5 on that list.

wrong. the hangup with trading for bosh now is nothing is going to stop him from being an unrestricted FA in a year and a half.

not legal or binding and a huge gamble.

we could make toronto an offer in summer 2009 contingent on bosh accepting a sign/trade, but it's very unlikely he would agree to anything before 2010 since he can't get true NBA max until then.

There are currently 6 teams with attendance between 12K and 14K. Starting with the worst, you have Sac-Town, Memphis, Bobcats, T'Wolves, Philly, and the Pacers. Given the economy, that could be a better indication of who will be tanking than just the W-L record.
