So Roy's PER is higher than Kobe's... interesting.

Roy is not an MVP... People at the Garden need to stop chanting this. He isn't an MVP this year. Only way he can win it is to take us to the finals. Down the road yes he prolly will win one, but not now with Lebron, KG and Kobe.

This team would be in the gutter without Brandon Roy. He at least deserves to be in this discussion. No.7 is about right.

I'd like to address this real quick also.

I am sort of ashamed at how the fans were chanting MVP for Brandon's free throws the past few games. To me, it really demonstrates a basic lack of knowledge about the NBA game. Lebron, Kobe, and CP3 are so far ahead of Brandon in the race that it's not even funny.

Not only does it display ignorance, but it's just a copy of Staples Center fans. So now it's wrong AND unoriginal (also copying our most hated enemies).

And then I got even more mad after the game listening to the 95.5 post-game show with Antonio Harvey. Someone called in and asked what it would realistically take for Roy to win MVP. You know what 'Tone said?

"He'd have to take this team deep in the playoffs." What an idiot. Shouldn't someone who played in the NBA for a better part of decade know that the voting for the MVP takes place in the regular season?

To answer that fans question correctly, here's what it would realistically take: 25, 5, 5 with the Blazers winning 60+ games. Unless that happens, chances are slim to none. Sorry to all the Rose Garden homers. Just stop making us real knowledgeable fans look ignorant.

He's at the very least the team MVP. A crowd chanting "M-V-P" for an elite player who's been carrying the team is hardly unique or inappropriate.

Well, it IS Antonio Harvey. With that said, I'd like to think Tone was talking about next season. Roy would have to take the Blazers deep in the playoffs THIS YEAR to have serious consideration for MVP next season. At least that's what I'd like to think he was saying.

They do have the playoffs every year... Harvey's answer makes some sense if you assume that Roy is not going to win it this year no matter what (which is probably a pretty good assumption). If, some year, he takes the team deep into the playoffs, he'll be in much better position to win MVP in later years.

On the other hand, Harvey was never exactly in the running for MVP himself, so maybe he really doesn't know.

Edit: Natebishop3 beat me to it... darn you to heck, Natebishop3.

People chanted mvp for Kobe for years when he wasn't.

I think it's a good thing that the fans are stoked, and in turn the team is stoked.

Only good can come from it.

Tis the season to be jolly.
