I think that Nate is a great coach for deleoping talent and motivaton but hes unable to adapt his game plan durig he game.. I know this may sound crazy but maybe KP will come out and coach the team again

Yep, I am tired of Nate. Are we the ONLY team in the NBA that calls for mismatches against our favor, time and time again? By switching the pick and roll, we are screwing ourselves. Also, if Blake drives to the hole one more time with no idea of what the hell he is going to do with it, i'm gonna go insane. His turnovers are KILLING US!

It surprised me that there wasn't really much of a discussion or even a blip on the map if you will for his statements before the Toronto game. He openly said the night before that he'd use Frye or Martell depending on what Toronto did. He said if they went small then we'd play Martell and if they went big then we'd play Frye. Why would you let the other team, a team with a new interim head coach at that, dictate the matchup? Why aren't we creating mismatches?

We should do what a lot of teams are doing, fire the coach, then realize that it isn't the coach.

We weren't switching screens earlier in the year and we were getting torched from the 3pt line and everyone was freaking. Now we switch them, creating mis-matches, and people are mad. Next, Nate will have us double team them, and people will be mad.

There is a reason every team runs a pick and roll, because it's impossible to defend if ran correctly. We run it fairly effectively, and so do other teams. Ultimately I don't blame Nate for missing 11 FT's, 23 points of turnovers, or 28 2nd chance point. All those things come effort and concentration. We were getting out rebounded because of size. We were missing FT's because bad shooters were in the game, and we weren't turning the ball over because Nate was calling plays for turnover-prone players.

The players failed to execute, stay out of foul trouble, get after lose balls, and focus at the line.

That's not true. People were complaining about us being in a zone defense and leaving three pointers wide open for threes even when the other team had great three point shooters and was hitting from deep. This is actually still happening. It had nothing to do with not switching on screens.

I'll give Nate the Benefit of the Doubt that he was yelling at his players to attack the basket and attack the boards. So what did he do when they didn't?

Sergio commits a silly fouls and gets yanked in the middle of a 4-4 night where he was shredding the D, relatively staying with his man, and playing like, well, like an NBA PG.

You're telling me that half of our lineup was blatently disregarding Nate's screaming orders, showing tiredness (at best) and laziness/ineptitude (at worst), and that's the lineup we're losing with?

Can't have it both ways. He either wasn't instructing them the right way, or he was rewarding poor play with crunch time, while rewarding great energy and play with bench time. :dunno:

I specifically remember two games threads where people were asking how someone could be wide open for 3's when we were in man and the guy in the corner was getting the ball swung to him.

I also recall the thread where people were upset about zone. And the thread with people complaining about our offense. And the thread where people were complaining about the substitution patterns. The complaints never end, no matter who our head coach has been.

So what I'm gathering from this game is that people wished we didn't switch screens. Are they suggesting that we hedge them (which Greg and Travis do a horrible job at)? Do they want us to go under the screen, giving wide open threes? Do they want us to fight over the top, allowing the PG to take it directly to the hoop? There is a drawback to all ways of defending a pick and roll, that is why everyone runs it!

I'd love to hear solutions instead of complaints....

Just because complaints never end doesn't mean that some of them aren't legit.

I would like us to fight over the top because I have more faith in LaMarcus, Joel or Greg being able to recover (or come from the weak side) and affect the shot than I do with having one of them be stuck on the perimeter and getting into foul trouble.

And well to be honest, it isn't like the PG isn't taking it directly to the hoop already at this point.

Here's one....SWITCH YOUR GAMEPLAN! You can defend the P&R in at least 6 different ways. We do one. All the time. We switch on screens. Every time. Why not mix it up, like when Nate mixes zone in for a few possessions? Still switch on some, hedge some, jam some, but mix it up. It's not that hard.

Dont want him fired, but I am very tired of our set player rotation. He subs the same players in at the exact same time every game. No need to scout us, we all know when Sergio in going to come in, and then 2 minutes later lets send Rudy in. Also why when Nate pulls a plyer he refuses toput them back in if they were having a great game. LMA will be on fire, but Nate pulls him and waits forever to put a player back in. What ever happened to the days of getting a quick rest and seeing if they are still on fire.

You don't expect people to actually THINK about what they're complaining about do you?

Kevin Pritchard is the obvious choice. But Nate is fine for now, his in game adjustments have been exceptional this year.

We switched screens the entire 3rd quarter tonight and held them to 10 points.

    Same strategy, different result.
