#1 Pick (Kenyon Martin) has had a good career but hasn't justified his high selection (injuries have had their effect). #2 Pick (Stromile Swift) is a bust. #3 Pick (Darius Mile) is out of the league. #4 Pick (Marcus Fizer) is also out of the league. #5 Pick (Mike Miller) has been a serviceable role player and a great shooter, nothing more. #6 Pick (DerMarr Johnson) is out of the league. #7 Pick (Chris Mihm) is a bust. #8 Pick (Jamal Crawford) is the only lottery pick who has played as well as his selection implies. #9 Pick (Joel Pryzbilla) is a decent role player. #10 Pick (Keyon Dooling) is a good role player. #11 Pick (Jerome Moiso) is out of the league. #12 Pick (Etan Thomas) is a decent role player. #13 Pick (Courtney Alexander) is out of the league. And that's just the lottery. You can take a look at the entire first round here and the entire second round here. A horrible, horrible draft.
Total crap draft. There was a slew of solid players from it, but the only really good players that I can think of are Crawford and Redd.
2000 > 2003... Okay i can't even do that with a straight face, this draft was straight up brutal. 3 All-Stars:K-Mart, Jamaal Magloire, Michael Redd, and all made the game in the same year (2003-2004)
The 1986 draft was shitty as well 1 Clev Brad Daugherty North Carolina 2 Bos Len Bias Maryland 3 GS Chris Washburn North Carolina State 4 Ind Chuck Person Auburn 5 NY Kenny Walker Kentucky 6 Phoe William Bedford Memphis State 7 Dall Roy TarpleyMichigan 8* Clev Ron Harper Miami (OH) 9 Chi Brad Sellers Ohio State 10 SA Johnny Dawkins Duke 11 Det John SalleyGeorgia Tech 12 Wash John Williams Louisiana State 13 NJ Dwayne Washington Syracuse
I think his situation is more sad than anything else. Who would have thought that a usually straight-laced kid would give into peer pressure celebrating his being drafted for one night, and it would prove to be his first and last slip up. Very sad.....he was something else to....just plain filthy game
This draft was more of a "what could have been" instead of bad draft. IMO, more talent than the 2000 draft. Daugherty was a solid player, unfortunately his career was cut chort by injuries. I think with today's medical breakthroughs, he could have played more years. Much is known about the drug-induced death of Bias. Washburn too had problems with drugs which lead to his ouster from the league. Tarpley was an excellent player when he wasn't fighting drug problems or injuries. He set the standard for the modern PF of today, he was a difficult matchup when his head was in the game. Person and Salley were decent role guys. My fave of the group was Ron Harper, a great career with many championship rings. The rest stunk. Something's wrong when you have a nickname of "Hot Plate."
Yea 2000 was awful, in a Sim League I am in, we started in 98-99 Season, we are on the 00 Season now, every is trading thier picks. But the good drafts come right after it so
A couple things. Darius Miles still is in the league, and injuries aside he did haev a good stretch where he showed talent. If you think Keyon Dooling is a "good" role player I don't know how you can't say the same of Joel Pryzbilla, who is the best back up center in the league and would start on several teams. Based on the lack of talented big men in the league and his ability, he is fine for where he was drafted.
