CB Dollaway has a chance to increase his exposure just by being on this card. Kinda happy for him cause he was one of my favourites from the ultimate fighter. If I hadnt already blown so much money on christmas stuff this card would be an automatic buy for me.
Too bad he's getting a fight on a PPV card before Amir. I'm not a big fan of CB and I'll be there booing his entrance! I'll try to boo him at the weigh-ins, too.
h8er I like CB and I hope he shows big improvement for this fight. I think he's 2 yrs away from being a stud at 185.
They finally released the weigh-in information and it will be held here on Friday. I'll try to post some pictures Friday night or Saturday. Its funny to see nightclubs advertising after parties for the event. Tito Ortiz is across the street at the Hooters casino after the event. Chuck Liddell is in one of the clubs here at the MGM. I'm sure we'll hear from the competing fighters where they will be (probably the usual suspects, Tao, Pure, and LAX).
Hopefully I'll get a chance to go to the weigh-ins tomorrow, but either way I'll have plenty from Saturday's festivities.
Hey guys, no pictures tonight, but I've seen a few fighters in the hotel. The first guy we saw was Matt Hamill. He was with the big bald older guy that must be his coach, along with a few other people, likely family. He was getting on an elevator on our floor so he must be staying here. We were too far away to catch his elevator and yelling would be purposeless so we tried to chase his elevator down to the lobby. He must not have gotten off on the first floor because we couldn't see him when we got down there. Either that or he gave us the slip. The second was a little better. We were walking around the promenade and saw a couple of guys in hoodies and shorts. Its pretty cold and rainy out so its a dead giveaway when you see someone dressed like that. After looking a little closer we noticed one of the three guys looked like Japanese fighter Ryo Chonan. Sure enough it was him. We caught an elevator with them. He was with a tall white guy and a shorter black guy, both of whom were speaking Japanese to him. Chonan was pretty sheepish. He's pretty small, too. Smaller than the 5'8" that he is advertised, at least it seems. I'm a little over 6' and I towered over him. The white guy had half a pie in a metal tin in his hands. I don't know if they were trying to tease Ryo or what but I hope he wasn't up there eating that with them afterwards. Seems like they must've been coming from a dinner, maybe with other fighters. I don't think there is anywhere in this hotel where you can get a grocery store pie. The third was a little more exciting but less intimate. Rashad Evans was strutting through the casino in a red TapouT jumpsuit with a couple of guys. It seems like all these guys travel with training partners. I wanted to talk to him but my brother thought it would seem stalker-ish so we let them go. They cut over to an elevator and were gone. None of these guys were getting recognized by anyone other than us, it seems.
Cool stories Speeds, I am jealous for sure. It's best to approach fighters who are fighting after the weigh in's I've read. They can get grumpy dropping weight
Certainly looked like Chonan was drawn out. The way he looked last night just astounded me--how could this guy have beaten Silva?! We saw some more fighters at the club downstairs but I don't know who they were at the moment. I recognized one square-jawed, neckless, brush-cutted blonde guy but I can't think of his name at the moment. I was going to talk to him but he gave me a pretty hard look so I figured I'd let it go. Can't say these guys aren't a bit intimidating! Question: do these guys wear fight gear in their day to day lives? Answer: yes, all of them. It is the uniform of a fighter to wear jeans or track pants, and a hoodie or a t-shirt with their sponsor's logo on it.
alright if you can't get next to the fighters.. how about some scantily clad fighter bimbo's??? you're in Vegas.. throw us a freakin' bone!
Here is a video we took of Rampage & Wandy weighing-in...I'll post weigh-in pictures (including Arianni) later tonight after Cirque.
Cirque (KA) is awesome. If anyone is planning on coming to Vegas, make an effort to see that show. Truly epic stuff. Anyways we had our second up-close fighter encounter today after the play. We met Antoni Hardonk in the casino. He was sitting in front of a slot machine looking lost. Again, he was in the mandatory shorts/hoodie fighter uniform. I shook his hand and told him I liked him as a fighter and wished him good luck, but his responses made me wonder how much English he understood. Still, nice guy. Pictures to follow...
I don't know if Arianni has body make up or not, I mean like a spray tan or something, but if not she has the nicest skin I've ever seen. Like butterscotch.
