If you did see the game you would know he was partly responsible for the major run that brought the game to 83 to 81 late in the 4th. He had steals , 3's and an all around good game. He brought alot of energy to the game. Not franks fault.
yes I am japanese! tee hee I like YI cuz he is close to representing asian people! tee hee i also like YAO and SUN and VC and TMAC and DUNKERS! (^*()
/signed....i dont agree with everything Frank does, but maybe you guys should start blaming the players. He cant make Yi hit his shots or grow a pair and actually stick with his guy on Def. He cant make Simmons hit open shots from the sideline. He cant make Anderson hit shots. He has to make the best of what he can with a sub-par roster, and i actually believe he is. He is using a system which caters to our best players and it works decently well. Next season it may actually be different depending on FA's and Brooks development. To those saying we arent using players correct, Maybe those players should actually hit the shots they get before you revamp a system "because we arent using them right".
You can't use that in the last two minutes of a game and it's not like the Nets run their offense through Boone so he likely wouldn't touch the ball much anyways.
I agree completely with all of this, except #2. I don't think being 1 for 84 in developing young players makes anything "invalid." Nor do I think he did as much to develop Brook as Josh Boone did in getting injured and allowing Brook (who did 90% of his "developing" as a starter) to get the opportunity to start in the first place. Shit, Kristic would still be on the bench to this day if 4 guys who aren't even in the league anymore didn't get injured first. And, let's also not ignore the fact that Brook came into this league already surprisingly developed. Long story short, Frank has a fuck-long ways to go before any sane person can use the words "can," "develop" and "young players" in the same sentence. But the rest, yeah, I agree 100%. Frank is far from perfect, but I'm liking him more this season than ever before. Thorn is doing a fantastic job developing young coaches.
Devin sucked last night, he kept begging for fouls. He was playing selfish, he got blocked big time because everyone knew he wasn't going to pass and wouldn't get up to play D. Hassell getting too many minutes as starter. That's frank's ego playing with rotations, trying to outsmart everyone. Frank was sitting players after they were finally meshing and doing well. Brown made the Cats cut/assist and play hard D. The Cats got so many offensive 3 seconds because they wait and wait for the perfect pass inside. I thought Yi's post up were good, he didn't hit those shots, but you can see he was getting good shots and if was making them his scoring would have exploded. Pretty much I was annoyed that Nets didn't get calls at home, and that makes Devin selfish and go nuts. I don't want to see a Starbury development in NJ. Also, the Nets small ball is terrible, we have Anderson, Yi, Swat, Swift, Boone. Too many bigs on the roster and you're sitting all of them in stretches of games. You all realize that Dribble Drive is a highschool offense right? We live and die by the sword, but right now I tell you the key to the Nets success is Yi, Anderson and Lopez to balance the offense and still match up defensively. Yi and Anderson has the shittiest job on the team. They're told to play as an additional SF on offense and guard the PF. Spread out the offense to the 3pt line and grab offensive rebounds. How many bigs in the league has the skills to do this?
Come on. Name the ONE young player who Frank didn't develop who has gone on to greater glory. Perhaps I should have added Jerome Moiso, Billy Thomas, Kyle Davis, Kaniel Dickens, Christian Drejer or any other summer league player Frank destroyed to my list. Marcus Williams wants a buyout because he has played only 49 minutes and scored 9 points. After starting a few games, Wright is nailed to the Mavs' bench. Hassan Adams plays only in garbage time in Toronto. The Nets' front office, particularly Stefanski, overhyped the Nets' picks. Sean Williams over Marco Belinelli looks pretty dumb right now, but Stefanski said SWat had the potential to turn into another KMart! He said Wright reminded him of Allan Houston! Ilic was not a project and in fact was more athletic that Krstic! Everyone of those guys had a decent chance (other than possibly Zoran, whose potential the Nets admit they blew). Swat started 29 games last season, finished eighth in minutes among rookies taken in the 2007 draft. Meanwhile, Devin Harris as noted went from Avery Johnson's doghouse to quite possibly the All-Star game because Frank recognized his talent and redrew his offense.
I didn't even know you could keep a scorecard for basketball. I've only seen one for baseball. Do you do it Dean Oliver style, or is it more like a box score?
It's interesting to put this record up against Frank's most obvious comparison, Byron Scott, who managed to drive Stephen Jackson out of New Jersey and into a role as a key playoff contributor for the Spurs and Warriors.
And JR Smith, too. Stephen Jackson was recruited by Frank to try out in Vancouver, and then he brought him to the Nets.
Frank should tell Harris to play some defense. It's frustrating to watch Devin, when he never even goes to defensive stance. How hard is to put your hand up once in a while?!?
agreed with the post above me.... also, if anyone didn't see/know, the bobcats almost beat those Knicks last night in a good comeback, someone should tell coach Frank that the bobcats were doing it WITH BIGS STILL ON THE FREAKIN COURT... not small, just their Guards and BIGS! Frank is a tard and i can't wait to see him the get the AXE
New York Times has a big story Thursday on Harris and Frank...how Frank took him to dinner last summer and told him he would be the focus of the offense and how Harris appreciates what Frank did. I am always amazed by those who trash Frank for not "developing" players like Hassan Adams, Marcus Williams or Sean Williams, each with their own lack of talent, motivation, or NBA position, but refuse to give him any credit for turning Devin Harris from Avery Johnson's whipping boy to one one of the NBA's elite in less than a year. Harris was 24 when he joined the Nets. That's a young player. He is what he is because Frank had faith in him. Similarly, he gets no credit for Brook Lopez's development. Does anyone remember how Lopez was uncertain, hesitant, often losing the ball, only a couple of months ago? Now, he is the top rookie big man. These things don't happen because of Lopez's natural talent or experience. It's about coaching. Conventional wisdom is everywhere, and here, it's about Frank being a poor developer of talent, when in fact, the opposite is true. ----- Re: Stevie Jackson, he claims that the Nets let him go (for nothing) because he was close to Marbury. In fact, he lived with Marbury his rookie year...and the Nets wanted to eliminate all connections to Marbury. The decision was less likely Scott's than Thorn's. I do remember as I sure others do how Scott publicly trashed Jackson's defense. Trashing a rookie's defense when he is helping you try to salvage a season (filling in for the injured Kittles) is just plain dumb. I always thought that if the Nets had drafted SJax, even in the second round, rather than signing him as a free agent, he would not have been released. And by the way, if anyone is looking for examples of players whose development was thwarted by the Nets, there are four undrafted or second round players who started their careers with the Nets (long before Frank) but were waived or let go: David Wesley, Earl Boykins, Damon Jones and Stevie Jackson. All had decent careers and could have helped the Nets.
Ah, so what you're saying is that 24 is about when players start to realize whatever star potential they may have.
