Why wouldn't Raps want to resign him? I still think Calderon is still too green to take over the starting spot for next year.
Well we might be getting Daniel Gibson in the draft. Who says that Calderon would start. I said we should keep him for one more year, by then another Euro star who is supposedly better then Calderon, Ukic will be coming over and we could sign a fa. We are gonna have plenty of pg's so we don't need to hang on to James. Who is not a true pg at all but just a lights out offensive player. I don't think he is neccisary. We should have CV, Bosh, Mo Pete and Gibson/Gay/Brewer and maybe even Graham getting atleast 12 points a game. We really don't need James. I would rather have someone to help generate some offense like Calderon, Ukic, Gibson or a free agent. James has pieced are offense together this year but we have no use for him in the longterm run.
I don't think Roko Ukic is coming over for a while. The guy opted to sign with a European team over the Raptors this summer because they took him in the 2nd round rather then first. Raps would need a buyout of his contract to bring him over.Also, shouldn't the Raptors be looking for a swingman over a pg in this upcoming draft? This draft is loaded with them, I see them taking one over a pg.
Well we don't really want to draft a SF again as we drafted Graham last year but I would like to go at Brewer. He isn't much of a shooter but we already have shooters, he is a good defensive player and he is athletic and he is working on his jumper. Loads of talent.But we have been looking at a pg for awhile now. In the off-season we tried to get Duhon. We will sign one when Mike James leaves and Ukic was supposed to back in 2 years when he signed with the Euro team last year so he should be back when James leaves. I don't really know what's going on there but I expect him to be back. So right there we have 3 pg's.And face it Mike James is not a natural pg at all. He is a shootfirst guy and we don't need that type of player starting for us. He is getting older, he isn't a great defender. Personally, I would much rather get rid of his contract and bring in natural pg's because again Mike James brings scoring to the table. But scoring will not be an issue for us in the long run. So I don't think we need him at all long-term.
I understand Mike James isn't a pass first pg, but he's a good guard to have off the bench to provide scoring and energy. He's also a vet, and Ukic isn't a lock.And I didn't mean SF, I should have said SG, as the position you guys should try and fill.
