<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Garnett To The Big Apple?21st February, 2006 - 10:51 pmChristopher Reina/RealGM - A source close to the participants in the talks told Christopher Reina late Tuesday night that New York and Minnesota are in serious and ongoing discussions about a deal which would send Kevin Garnett to the Knicks in exchange for Penny Hardaway and Channing Frye. Isiah Thomas, who has called Frye untouchable all season, is willing to give up the sought after rookie to land the future Hall of Famer.Garnett has made it clear to the front office that should he be dealt, he wants to go to New York and that wish will be fulfilled if the Timberwolves decide to end the KG era and begin to rebuild. They reportedly respect Garnett and all that he has done for both the franchise and the area not to trade him to his preferred team. The question of if the Wolves want to move on without Garnett will be the deciding factor in whether a trade gets completed before Thursday.</div>KG to the Knicks? This is one trade that I am completely on board with. I would love to have KG in New York, and I'd be willing to give up Frye for him. Bringing him to NY and reuniting him with Marbury could be a great thing for the organization. I know its only a rumor, but at least this rumor has me a bit excited. It probably won't happen, but the rumor has caused quite a stir in the Big Apple tonight.
no, no, NO!! Can anyone stop believing the bullshit rumors about KG?!?! God, it's getting ridiculous. McHale is not stupid enough to throw away his franchise for a freaking expiring contract and a pretty good young player.
they've been talking about this for a long time now. it's not happening. i don't trust anything from realgm. i love kg and it would be great to have him here but not for the price of frye. i love this guy and he's the future of this franchise. frye has to stay regardless of who it's for.
Yeah the knicks already have enough bad salaries. They would never recover if they have KG's salary to pay also. They would be much improved though.
Not happening, Minny can do much better than this if they elected to trade him. All they are getting here is cap space and Frye. Frye is good, solid young player, but by no means someone to build your franchise around. Cap room would do them no good, because without KG, who wants to sign in Minnesotta as a free agent?

I've followed the guy for years in AZ- he's smart, decent defensively, mediocre rebounder- gonna be a solid player. But he still lacks strength, and is still afraid to bang inside.
Just goes to show how incredible those Knicks fans are that they would even have to think twice about trading Frye if it means they can get KG back.. :no3:
If KG wants to leave the wloves cause they are lossing what makes you think he would wanna goto the knicks. I think KG wants to be on a team that can win not a team that he might help win...

most posts don't really expand on their game, unless the low post players develop a midrange. Frye is a shooter, he doesn't like to play inside, and really, i don't think he should. He's weak, he'd get hurt on the blocks.

Yes, he is, he is an excellent young player, but he isnts, and never will be anything close to the level of KG..You can say whatever you want about Frye but if youre not willing to trade him for KG then you dont know anything about basketball. Were talking about Kevin Garnett here..Kevin Garnett! Future hall of famer, and youre hesitant to trade him because of a rookie who has performed well on your <Censored> team so far..Why do you have to turn this into a Nets issue? Look at the standings ok, by the way attendance at Continental Airlines Arena is up about 1,000 a game from recent years and the team has had 12 sell-outs so far..Just about matches the number of wins the knicks have huh..
I'd really like to see marbury/garnett play together, I think adding Curry into that mix would make a great lineup but Penny and Channing Frye?? That's it? I know Penny's just in it to make the $$ work so your basically just trading Frye for Kevin Garnett, Minnesota would get incredibly hosed in that deal, I don't see it happening either.
I think Garnett, Francis, Marbury, Iverson, T-Mac, Pierce, Kobe and any other superstars on a .500 team should switch. Just throw them all into a lottery and let the GM pick a number and get a random guy. It will be great for the league and exciting to see how it works out for every team. Lol, I would love to see that happen.
Minny could do much better than that, and if they accept that deal they are really hurting their franchise because the reason for getting Hardaway is cap room and matching up the salaries, but once it comes down to attracting free agents, who will want to go to Minnesotta? Its essentially Frye for Garnett, which is obviously an incredibly foolish trade....If youre a Knicks fan, how can you not be excited about this, although theres little chance of it happening, of course..<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (myst @ Feb 22 2006, 11:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I think Garnett, Francis, Marbury, Iverson, T-Mac, Pierce, Kobe and any other superstars on a .500 team should switch. He is 29 years old, turning 30 soon. If you ever want to win, this is your shot at winning. Im sorry, but Frye will never be anywhere near Garnett. He may be a good talented, young player, but he will never be a tremendous player like Garnett. If you even have to think twice about this trade you know nothing about basketball. Look at your team, with Isiah Thomas' brilliant moves, thats what youre stuck with for the next 6 years. You have no cap room flexibility, youre stuck in mediocrity because he, somehow, got you into worse cap trouble than you were already in. You finally get rid of Houston's 100$ million contract, so what do you do? You sign a guy who had two good playoff games for 30 mill, a guy who is overweight and has heart issues to a long term deal for 65$ million, and are now talking about adding Francis?? Isiah has no clue what he is doing, and you are, like I said, stuck in permanent mediocrity because of his moves. You had your shot, you got lucky when Houston retired, you could have made moves to get under the cap and actually build around your young guys, but that wont happen now. No one will take Marbury or Curry, and if they do, you wont get anything back for them. Your only hope is a move like this to get a supreme talent in this league, and you have to give up something to get somethin in this league. Frye has surprised alot of people including me, I admit, I didnt expect him to be this good, he is a good young player, but he will not be a Garnett-like player, and he wont turn your franchise around and give you hope to one day, maybe, make some noise in the east.
