How about this: Gooden and Hughes for Mikki Moore and Eric Dampier Bulls trade: Hughes, Gooden Bulls get: Mikki Moore, Erick Dampier Kings trade: Brad Miller Kings get: Gooden, Jerry Stackhouse, Shawne Williams Mavs trade:Erick Dampier, Jerry Stackhouse, Shawne Williams Mavs get: Brad Miller, Larry Hughes
Dampier is supposed to be great on the pick and roll and it looks like his contract will most likely not be guaranteed in 2010-11. Moore expires at the right time as well. I'd do it.
ummm...there is no way Chrlotte gives away Okafor (who is JUST a double double guy?) for and expiring contract. Not when there are teams that can offer young players, pics and expiring contracts.
I like your posts...seriously...at least when you propose trade ideas, they look realistic. Although I don't see McHale trading away Love...he is already hearing the backlash for giving up yet another (potential) ROY. The only way i see Love moving is if it's in a deal to bring in a top level talent to team with Big Al...ie; Butler or someone at least at his level.
I know this is an old post, but I don't think the Knicks are looking to give the Bulls yet another first rounder, especially for a player they should have had.
I actually think Tyrus Thomas would be a good fit for the Knicks. He's athletic enough to play in an uptempo game and he will be our lone shot blocker. How about David Lee for Tyrus Thomas and a 1st rounder?
I agree with you on that...but there are some diluted fans you are still in love with his "potential" and think waaaaay too much of him. In all honesty I don't see him as anything more than another Stomile Swift...all atheticism and potential early...but always teasing with it
As far as re-making the roster, how about this one: We trade: Kirk Hinrich Tyrus Thomas Andres Nocioni We get: Anderson Varejao Wally Szczerbiak Cavs trade: Wally Z Anderson V Cavs get: Erick Dampier Noc Tyrus Thomas Mavs trade: Erick Dampier Mavs get: Kirk Hinrich Talent wise, we don't make out so great, but we jettison our two bad long term contracts while getting back a useful young center, and only take back expiring contracts, giving us a lot of cap room for 2010. For the Cavs, Dampier for Varejao is probably close to a wash this season, and they get rid of a useless Wally Z and replace him with a similar player in Noc who is probably a moderate improvement, and Tyrus, who'd probably be in a decent position there with a guy who's clearly in charge that he can play off of and a big frontcourt that's aging, giving him a good situation to break into. For the Mavs, Kirk is a better player than Erick Dampier, and Jason Kidd's contract expires after this season, and he's getting old anyway.
Hmm, pretty sure I'd do that... I'm a big fan of Varejao for some reason. The Cavs... not sure I wouldn't rather have Kirk (if he returns to form... big if) than Dampier. But mostly, if I'm the Cavs, I'd be hesitant to give up on Varejao, who seems to me to be very solid. They've got a good thing going in general, so why rock the boat? I've seen Dampier for X trades floated a bit, and the big problem people seem to think is it'll leave the Mavs without anyone in the middle. I have heard, however, that they like Brad Miller. What about a three way sending Dampier here (his last contract year is non guaranteed, so it'd fit into the 2010 plan), sending Miller to the Mavs, and sending whomever the Kings want to them. We need ourselves a big oaf.
You could do a lot better and not help out a team in our own division. Why would we want to help Cleveland out like that?
Here's a couple guys I've been mulling over. 1. Rasho Nestorovic. He's a guy who, I think, could be a very useful player for us. He's big, an excellent defender, and can hit that basic elbow jumper that good big men hit but seems to elude our young guys. He's my "new Antonio Davis". He's an expiring $8.4M contract as well. I would re-sign him... I'd be perfectly happy with him on Nocioni's contract, for example. I could see the Pacers being at least mildly interested by Kirk or Nocioni. 2. Josh Childress. I think Gordon is gone. So let's figure out a way to get something for him. Childress is a 2/3 who's plays good defense, is young, and does some of everything. He's kind of what Thabo would be if he didn't suck. And he doesn't want to play for the Hawks. And the Hawks will have cap space next year, and they're a team I could at least envision Gordon working on (next to Joe Johnson). Basically, these are two guys who fit the mold Paxson once seemed to have for team identity. Put together 1- Rose, Kirk 2- Kirk, Childress 3- Deng, Childress 4- Gooden, Tyrus 5- Rasho, Noah Let it grow, and consider moving Kirk next year to open up 2010 space.
How about this one: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...2456~3032~429&teams=4~21~6~6~6~21~4&te=&cash= Bulls Receive: Jason Kidd Amare Stoudemire Suns Receive: Luol Deng Tyrus Thomas Draft Picks / Cash Mavericks Receive: Kirk Hinrich Andres Nocioni Drew Gooden The Mavericks receive three players that can help them make their playoffs/championship push with Dirk. Suns get good compensation for Amare Stoudemire. And we get Amare Stoudemire. Basically, we'd make Rose/Gordon/Stoudemire our core. Then in 2010, we would go after a wing man (Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce, Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, Richard Jefferson, Michael Redd) and bring over Omer Asik. PG-Derrick Rose SG-Ben Gordon SF-Lebron James PF-Amare Stoudemire C- Omer Asik/Joakim Noah Fill in the rest with role players who want to win a ring.
I don't see much need or desire for Kidd, but the rumor that the Suns are considering moving Amare is sort of interesting. I'd give up any combination of guys not named Rose to get him. Of course, the Bulls are so close to the LT it's going to be hard for them to compete if he's really on the block. Other teams could pose a deal that, in addition to giving a good deal on the court to the Suns, could also get them under the LT. We obviously can't since we're up against it ourselves and can't take back much in the way of salary. Otherwise, I'd think something could get done. Looking at their team, I'd think both Deng and Hinrich would be very interesting for them. Obviously we'd probably need to add a young player like Noah (who they reportedly liked) and a pick, but even then, I don't see how something would work for both sides financially.
Sure, but it's very hard to actually put together a deal that gives them comparable talent to what another team can give as well as cap relief. For example, you can't trade them Deng, Hinrich, Gooden for Amare, because we're sending them something like $26M in salary and taking back only $15M. That's the opposite of cap relief. Plus they'll still be over the LT threshold next year, I think. Other teams out there can give them cap relief + better players. For example, the Blazers could send something like Aldridge+ LaFrentz (and perhaps another young guy on a rookie deal) and give them not only a solid turn but get them under the luxury tax.
They're $1.7M over the LT threshold next season, plus three cap holds. Hughes+Gooden gets them $20M in, $15M out with $7M in cap relief after this season and another $13M before the summer of 2010. Gooden gets them well under the LT threshold. Hughes gives them a big expiring deal to trade next season. Works under the CBA (.75 x $20M = $15M) plus/minus minor filler.
