Re: World Victory Road: Sengoku no-Ran 2009 Wonder which Gomi is going to show up? Gomi has 2 KO's and 1 Sub all in the 1st round after a loss, but that was in his Pride Days. Misaki vs Santiago should be a great match up. I think Misaki takes it to a 5 round Dec. Antonio Silva better win.. he won't be fighting stateside for a while. Golyaev beat Gomi.. was it a fluke? He's only fought 3 times in the last 3 years. What's the over under on the Dave Herman fight? 2 mins? Dude has been pounding the crap out mediocre fighters for a while now.. looks to continue tonight.

Re: World Victory Road: Sengoku no Ran 2009 [Results] Well well, there were some surprising results last night. Firstly, and more importantly, Takanori Gomi loses again, this time by achilles lock to PANCRASEism team member Satoru Kitaoka. Gomi has now lost two straight and three of five if you count his submission loss to Nick Diaz. World Victory Road is a federation built around Gomi so it is an abject failure for him to lose his title shot. Now what do they do with him? Also, undefeated heavyweight Dave "Pee-Wee" Herman lost to 38-year old Korean journeyman Mu Bae Choi. Herman exhausted himself trying to finish Choi in the first round and came out for the second with nothing left. Choi was able to hammer Herman with some overhands that left Pee-Wee draped over the ropes. One has to wonder how seriously Herman took this bout--and how seriously it will affect his rise as a talented young heavyweight. Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal remained undefeated by stopping Yukiya Naito in the first round via strikes. Lawal hasn't faced top competition yet but is putting together a resume of impressive stoppages. Former EliteXC Heavyweight Champion Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva also picked up a win when Yoshihiro Nakao blew out his knee in the first round of their fight. Silva is currently under suspension by the California State Athletic Commission for testing positive for steroids following his title fight with the late Justin Eilers. Finally, former UFC fighter Jorge Santiago stunned Kazuo Misaki with a fifth round submission victory. Misaki controlled Santiago for most of the bout but gave up his back in the fifth and was choked unconscious by the American Top Team fighter. Santiago is 9-0 since leaving the UFC.

Re: World Victory Road: Sengoku no Ran 2009 [Results] Quick note: Japanese Judoka Satoshi Ishii was ringside for the event wearing a UFC shirt.
Re: World Victory Road: Sengoku no Ran 2009 [Results] In Herman's defense, the fight would've been stopped stateside at 3:00 of the first round when he dropped Choi.
I screwed up this card royally. I went 4-5 in my predictions. Gomi is approaching over the hill status as another veteran MMA fighter who has not done enough to adapt to the changing landscape of MMA. I can't believe Misaki lost after dominating so much of the fight. Did Herman not adjust to the travel that well?? It's the first thing that came to my mind. Might Mo is looking mighty good. He's faced experienced fighters in all 3 of his fights. They weren't top shelf but solid vets of the sport.. that says a lot IMO.
