Here's to 15 years of Oden dunking on your trashy organization.

Realistically, it won't matter to Portland. It won't stop them from being able to re-sign Oden, Brandon, LaMarcus, Rudy and anyone else on their team that they want to resign.

    Enjoy sucking.

More likely: Miles is young, talented and not nearly as hurt as some would have you believe.

Young? He's almost 28. Not nearly as young as you'd think. He has 10 years in the league on his knees, and the NBA appointed doctor said his injury was career-ending. I don't understand how there could be any misunderstanding.

Re: The official "The Memphis Grizzlies are dirty bitches" thread

Well...just turned 27 in October... and it's 6 years of NBA basketball on his knees, not 10.

But when we're talking about Darius Miles, it's okay to fudge numbers and say things that aren't quite true, right? Or maybe THAT is the 'misunderstanding' huh?

He's still young. And he's talented/athletic/not as much of an uncaring dick-head as people like to think.

But he also has zero good knees out of 2. If MEM wanted a young project SF to develop with the 12th spot, there are plenty

a couple of mins in garbage time, walk up the court a couple of times, do nothing productive, get paid, go home.

sounds like his career in general

Even Ike Diogu got more PT tonight than Darius... which pretty much shows how lengthy a stint Miles got since I didn't even notice Ike in there.

I'm not sure what there would be to challenge.

Whether Memphis is doing it to help themselves directly (by getting a guy to practice and play with them) or indirectly (by denying his services to other teams, or to damage the cap situation of Portland) it seems within the rules and while it would suck for the Blazers, that doesn't mean it's illegal.

Yes. I'm sure they hated making the playoffs while pawning off a useless player on us.

It reminds me of this time last year where I hooked up with a really smart and hot blond chick. I'm still seething over it.

His worth is -$11million to Portland... you better fucking believe he's worth it. 18 more minutes and we're fucked. Fucking jackasses.

And when you had sex with her for the 10th time (20 minutes total), your worst enemy's bank account got seized by the FBI?

Tough deal, man... I feel for you.

Man, that trade reminds me of the days when we'd cheer so loudly for a guy who could make a wide open 15-20 foot jump shot when we were absolutely brutal. Person, Voshon Lenard, Matt Carroll, Richie Frahm, Juan Dixon... yuck.

I predict the Griz will release him this week. On Jan. 10th, all player contracts are guaranteed for the rest of the season.

    ^awesome avatar...anyways...

Wow, your guys worst scenario is coming true. I was suprised too when I saw he played those 2min and didnt put up a single stat.

Just a thought...maybe MEM isnt doing this to fuck with you. Maybe they have such a shitty lineup they decided to take a risk on him for cheap to see if he could get significant minutes over the other crappy players in the same position. Maybe they did it just to create a little buzz.

So, if Memphis waives him by the 10th, can the Blazers pick him up off waivers?

I'm not sure how it works with a player on a non-guaranteed contract - and if the Blazers are excluded due to the medical retirement thing, but normally when a player is waived, the other teams, in reverse order of their current won-loss records, have a right to pick him up off waivers at his current salary. Teams usually decline as they think they can get the player cheaper once he's cleared waivers, but Miles is only making the vet minumum. The only other team that seems to be interested in Miles is the Celtics and they would be after the Blazers in the waiver queue.

We'd have to cut a player (might as well cut Shavlik as they obviously don't intend to play him a single minute all season), but if another team can pick up Miles just to kill Portland's cap space by playing him a minute a game for 10 games, why can't the Blazers pick him up and NOT play him to preserve their cap space.
