Implementation of the dress code seems to show that you're not correct. Seen many Allen Iverson commercials lately? (And I like Iverson). K*be's rape trial caused him to lose every single one of his sponsors, and he's closer to a 2nd-GOAT than Garnett. Bird won't put Tinsley on the floor, b/c he thinks his fan base will revolt. 'Melo's "don't snitch" video was called out by Stern.

Thuggery and "gangsta" don't tend to do much for the casual, paying NBA fan, who demographics show is generally a mid-30's to 50's white male. Sure, lots of other demographics like basketball, and play basketball, but don't pay for basketball. That's who the audience is.

But I guess maybe I'm wrong...I'm not force-fed WEEI except when I have business in Boston or Hartford. They're usually right on the money, right?

Please explain how KG acting like a punk draws the casual fan. He's beyond a trash talker, so don't bother using that term.

portland fans chose losing with good guys instead of winning with bad guys. and you are trying to tell them that "so-called character" doesn't matter?

I regret responding to STOMP's post at all. Because we've gone from a stupid discussion to a far stupider one.

The dress code has nothing to do with anything. Stern has zero proof that fans were alienated by the 'gangsta' dress code.

    I don't listen to WEEI.

Are you implying that KG would have fit in with the Jail Blazer mentality?

how so? Sorry, but we're right on topic especially by our standards. Of course if you can't stand the heat...
bad behavior isn't celebrated in society, especially in the spotlight. I doubt many tune in or out for just trash talking but combined with the main stuff this thread addresses (KG increasingly being viewed as a cheap shot artist/tough guy poser/moron) and his star power ability to draw eyeballs and move product is far from being enhanced by both an increased level of stupidity and a higher percentage of fans being exposed to it. He has been the face of the franchise in the national ad campaigns by far. Generally people/fans don't want to be associated with negative stuff, and things can snowball in a hurry.

Like I expressed before, hopefully for Celts fans he just takes the BS down a notch or two and allows this to simmer down... I'd expect that people are talking to him about doing just that

The original argument is whether KG is justified in his actions. Now that we settled that, its been dragged on to 'is KG good for basketball?'. Tell me how its relevant.

Can you hear me back there in the 50s?

What would have been a better response to a 50s mentality?

I don't think KG alienates the oton fans at all, as long as they win no one would give a rats ass in Boston....seriouly. They have a winning franchise....that's why thiers all this finger pointing.

Did fans stop supporting thier Piston team when they were the Bad Boys or Utah fans stop going to games when Malone an Stockton were being the two quietest cheap shot artists.....not to mention in Football with New England and "spygate"...it is ridiculous for anyone make assumtions and pass judgement for a fanbase based on "thier individual" toughts on a player....when it shows that fans will love and support their players (good or bad) if thier winning.

I'm not a Boston fan,but been I know that if I was, I wouldn't feel compelled to not watch my winning team because of some trash talking and elbows.....that's crazy. Im surprised some people are't catching nosebleed from sitting on that extremly high horse....lol

You've veered waaaay off base from my take. In the height of the "Jailblazer" days Portland was seating 20,000+ a night in the Rose Garden. I certainly wasn't having any problem rooting for them as I didn't view their behavior as offensive to me. Nationally was another story entirely. Thats what is risked by being perceived as a bad act. Connecting with viewers nationally... ratings = league $$$

Having repeatedly stated that I'm a fan of Garnett, it's odd that you'd go with the high horse nonsense. I'm not sure how I could make it any more obvious that I'm pointing to how this cheap shot stuff from a team's main star plays in the general public's perception rather then my own rooting interests.

you're not only unfamiliar with KG's history, but new here. Maybe you should just lurk for a while before telling us whats what because you're miles from being on top of matters.
it's about connecting with the masses silly, and that equates to the 2008-9 bottom line for the L.

JE is formerly jacobyellsbury i believe, and he has been here and at bbf for awhile. he knows his ball, and is sticking up for his player. if not, it would be a big circle jerk here, because we all hate garnett and wish he would catch leprosy of the face, and get moosebumps in his urethra.
