Just like how people are writting off Moon, im going to write off JO, I have seen nothing different from him. He still the same JO who at Pacer's pre-season said his fine he worked on his game and his ready. This trade hasn't worked out too well. The way i see it raptors once again wont even make the playoffs, I've lost all hope in JO to be the saviour and take raps to the promise land, just dont see it, because i look at teams like sixers, detroit, heck even nets and bucks they have connected better then raps have. I mean it could b Smitch but sometimes players have to step up 2!
I'm far from ready to write off JO. I've said all along that if he can do his career averages, the Raps got their money's worth. We saw how bad the D looked without him in Edmonton. He makes a difference on the defensive end, especially when he's on the floor with Bargnani. Has Smitch ever had more talent to work with? This is probably the most talented lineup he has ever had, so if the team slips, I wouldn't be opposed to letting him take his far share of the blame.
I was disappointed in the Bosh-JO frontline when they played the Lakers. They're soft on both ends of the court and JO doesn't have the jumping ability anymore to make him an effective shot blocker. There's not a lot of creativity on offense and the Raptors seem content running iso plays from the baseline over and over again. Look at the shot chart from the game. There's barely any field goal attempts inside the paint.
I like Shape's analysis, although its exactly what I was most afraid of when I heard about the trade. We are more defendant than ever on our coaching staff coming up with a non-predictable offense that has both Bosh and O'Neal playing off each other. If they continue to work like the past couple years, we will fail to live up to expectations.
Does he give them the best, or top 3, big man rotations in the league? if he does, then yes, it should be worth it. Bosh/JO/Bargnani - will they win us games? I think yes. How many blocks do we have in this game vs Philly? how many points in the paint and from the line? JO doesn't look great in his first game with the club but he's still getting it done.
and a lot actually depends on Jawai vs Hibbert, judging this trade down the line. keep in mind that not making that switch would have likely put us over the lux tax threshold.
of course CB4 and JO play on the low block. and "probably near the top 3"? so what, they're probably not in the top 3? the raps are up there. i think Phoenix should be the best this season but a lot depends on shaq and their rook. there are a lot of great big man rotations in today's NBA. we're certainly not guaranteed to be one of the best but we've got a shot and that is what will catapult the raps to the next level.
JO was tearing it up before he got sidelined with his latest injury. Only problem the raps have right now are what theyre gonna do when he gets back cause Bargs is starting to string together some good games.
Well, when you figure that what they gave up was TJ Ford and Rasho, it's not like it's a big problem IMO. Still, what the Raptors need is help at several positions. They need two or three more decent players, and JO isn't good enough by himself to compensate for that. Hence, you should trade him to the Bulls
TJ Ford, who is getting displaced by a very average Jarrett Jack in Indiana? We caught a glimpse of what TJ used to do last night when Will Solomon decided he was our go-to scorer. JO's expiring contract could net us something worthwhile in time.
yeah that the only thing JO has the expiring contract which some teams could use I mean corey did come back last nite looked very good 13/16 in the free throw line!!!
answer to thread: yes. As much as Raptors are sucking right now, it isn't because TJ left the team. The Raps recent problems have as much to do with TJ leaving than Rasho leaving.
The only problem with the trade is that Raps had to give up the pick. That would of given us Hibbert. He would of been great behind Bosh and JO. Rather than having Hump. We will regret this down the road once Hibbert's rookie contract expires (or is on his last year).
